I have been searching on the free BMD website for my grandfathers parents.. i have searched here for mothers maiden names and put them in on the BMD website. ive had no luck... nothing seems to be coming up past 1912.....

ErikaH Report 26 Jun 2008 22:39

Use only one forename..............after 1911, second forenames do not appear in full on the index

freebmd is up to at least 1920 in almost all areas, and beyond that year in many............

These years haven't been transcribed yet. You have to subscribe to something like Ancestry then you can search index pages quarter by quarter

You are going to have to buy the marriage cert to find out how old Brian Wheeler was and his father's name to be able to trace back further.

A*Lou, PM me with the details that you have, and I'll see what I can find. FindMyPast, for example, has birth, marriage (till 2005) and deaths up to 2006. I can also check Ancestry.

Irene

Irene Report 27 Jun 2008 08:24

Do you know how old he was when he married your mother. If you have the marriage certificate it will give his father's name. Irene

There was another thread yesterday.

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1054994&px=0

The marriage cert ref numbers are not clear on Ancestry maybe clearer on findmypast.

Without an age its almost impossible to find the birth as it seems a popular name.
