Was he the father of the children and you think he married about 1900?
Is he named as the father on the marriage cert of one of them?
What was his occupation?

This is Winifred's birth reg the cert will give you mums name then you can check for the marriage of her parents.

Which was your direct ancestor, ...was it Winifred?
That is probably the most unusual name, so I would look for her marriage to find her father's name and occupation and hope to find him in 1901.
You could order her birth cert. stating her father must be James...( or whatever)
Don't state occupation as this may have changed.

thats the same one for Winifred ,as i said you have six weeks to reg the birth so may well have been born Nov/Dec 1906 and reg early jan 1907 thus making her reg in the mar qtr 1907.

My dad was born Dec 1907 and his reg comes under mar Qtr 1908 cos his mum reg him in mid Jan 1908

I have a copy of her birth certificate but it is not a full one she was born on 30 November 1906 which does not have her parents name on it

Hi Christine .That birth of Nov 1906 would tie with the birth being reg early Jan 1907 . is it the original copy because it may give you the issue date i think.

You need to order the full cert with the GRO ref given and this will give you her mums full name which you will need to find the parents marrige.
