He has a great name for searches, born 4 Dec 1839 in Sheringham he married Pilippa Toms in 1858, they had a daughter Martha Elizabeth in Oct 1858, he was at sea with the Royal Navy in the 1861 census, and then I can find him no more. Can anyone help me?

Thanks for the info Katiemaw, I just wondered why Martha Elizabeth is a 13year old scholar living in a lodging house without her mother or father. Mary Norman does't seem to be related to her in any way.

This is very interesting info you sent me Rose, because the names and ages fit the Toms family I found on Family search. Philippa's surname on her marriage certificate is definitely Toms and her father is Thomas Toms, I'll have to go and look for the 1851 census, thanks

It's been transcribed as Jones but the image says Toms.

I was trying to verify Philippa's age and place of birth to see if I could find her after 1861.
