Edith was born in Kettering Northamptonshire in 1894, and yes I have the marriage cert for her and George.

Could Mavis have been her middle name? Have had this a lot in my family and its caused a lot of confusion.

But why on earth would Edith take on my dad from birth! or Ethel give him up! I'll try to find Mavis death cert with details of informant might be one of her sons who will have her birth cert, see what parents names are on that.

As George was married to Editha Knight in early 1916, the only explanation I can think of for the birth cert at the end of the year is that he was 'playing away'.........

Mistakes have happened on certificates...sometimes
deliberate !!

The whole family know nothing of her or even her name, my father assumed Edith knight was his mother, do you think mistakes were made on cert, both would be E Young!! Where could I go to find out any more info?

This is the problem!!!!
My Father is George 1916, Uncle Reg 1920 and Auntie Mavis? As we all understood Edith Knight was their mother. Have lead a happy life with Nannie!!! Until I recieved my fathers birth cert! Which in turn made me ask my cousin for a copy of our Grandparents wedding cert! and his fathers birth cert. Cannot find anything to do with Mavis, her married name was Clarke but have written to all Clarkes on electoral roll got some replies but to no avail found her.

Have tried for the marriage of George Young and Ethel Hilder 1913 to 1916...no luck

I have to ask this..........what evidence is there that these three children are actually siblings?

If George married Editha Knight in JFM 1916, what is the explanation for the MMN being Hilder on George jnr's birth cert in OND 1916?
