I'm looking for info on a James G. Kilgour, Wife: Nellie (or Petranella), Son: Ross G. Kilgour and daughter: Eva Nella Kilgour.
They were in Cook - Illinois 1910. La Porte - Indiana 1920 and San Diego - California 1930. I wish to establish the middle names in James G. and Ross G. Probably only available on birth or marriage certificates?

I'm not sure James' name was George. Looks like Gorgg or Gorqq

Lisa, that ties in with the 1881 Scottish Census. Thomas "Halket" (probably mistranscribed) is noted as "son"

Actually, I just took another look at the 1900 and it looks like the word is actually Halket!

The census taker wrote "George" a few lines about the Kilgours, and it looks nothing like James' middle name. I have no idea what it could be. :(

I don't agree that those are the correct names.
Mar could be Miss. San COULD be Jam (I have a Jam for James on a Canadian census).

Harris, have you contacted the Riverside National Cemetery? They may have Ross' middle name. (Do you have a copy of Ross' U.S. Veteran's information? I'm assuming it is for your Ross.)

You have all found more info than I have. Most of the pieces fit, i.e. Halket was Jessie GREIG first husband, John Kilgour was her second husband. Jessie and her first son (Thomas ROSS Halket) & second son (James GRIEG Kilgour) emigrated to America. I have not seen the 1900 Census or the N.Y. Passenger List. Are these available on Ancestry.com? The 1910,1920,1930 U.S. census list a James G., Nellie and Ross G. but have not been able to connect them to James Greig Kilgour. I would love to know any details for children of Ross G. or Eva Nellie if anyone knows them. The War Veterans web-site also only list Ross G. Kilgour, the middle name is the sticking point of identification. Thanks all again, sounds like it is them and I now have James wife's name of "Boone" to help

Written as Rose, but listed as "son". (My brother's first name is Ross, and during his first day at school, the teacher called out the students' names, and asked if "Rose" was present. He used his middle name from then on!)

Census enumerated at the beginning of January, which means Ross would have been born around August.
