Find Ancestors

1881 census for Prudence Rowley (b Scott 1826) shows her as widow at 2 Cliff Bank Square with son George & also William E Hancock( age 3 son of William Hancock & Sarah A Rowley married Christ Church Tunstall 1878). I've traced this marriage but can't trace Sarah Rowley anywhere else. She's not mentioned in relation to Prudence before 1881. Can anyone help please?

Staying with the Rowley family....Frederick Rowley born 1866 in Hanley Staffordshire, married Elizabeth Jane L Fowler in 1868 & died in Burnley Lancashire on 3 January 1948. I have him in census records from 1871 to 1901 in Ashton-under-Lyne Lancashire but can't find a trace in 1911 census for either him or Elizabeth. I think she died in 1930 in Ormskirk Lancashire. They had 3 children....Harry,Ida & Lily. none of them married. Harry 1897-1915. Ida 1904-1977 & Lily 1913-1995.

are you sure William's mother is Sarah Rowley?

There are 2 Rowley / Hancock marriages. The 2nd is for a Hannah Rowley who does appear with Prudence in 1871 and William E (grandson) is William Edwin
