Good evening :)
I made a topic regarding this guy's son, but when I continued it about a week ago no one replied.. so i'm hoping starting a fresh on this someone might be able to give me a hand.
His name is Charles Roberts, his common name has caused major difficultys finding him on the BMD so i've been unable to find which one is him to get the right birth/death certificate, I do however have his marriage certificate.
I'm hoping someone might be able to find him on the census records.. so far i haven't had much luck. This is all the info i have on him, he was born in 1857ish and I think he was born in the east end of London, most likely the Mile end, Hackney, Westham or Bethnal green sort of area. He was a Coachman. His father was William Roberts, a Upholsterer. He got married in 1883 and i'm mainly looking for any info on him prior to his marriage and i'm trying to find anything on his parents..
If anyone could give me a hand with geting abit futher back with this guy it would be great!

Who did he marry, what was his father's occupation, and who were the witnesses at his wedding. Do you know if any of the witnesses were related to Charles?

He married Emma Harvey, and his father's occupation was a upholsterer. And from the looks of it, the witness' were only from the wifes side of the family.. i've so far had no problems with tracing his wifes family.. it's just him.

Personally, I would be more inclined towards this family?
In my experience, Carpentry + Upholstery often go 'hand-in-hand' and this father is a Carpenter:
1861 England Census about Charles Roberts Name: Charles Roberts Age: 3 Estimated birth year: abt 1858 Relation: Son Father's Name: William Mother's Name: Mary Ann Gender: Male Where born: Kensington, Middlesex, England Civil parish: Kensington St Mary Abbott Ecclesiastical parish: Brompton Holy Trinity County/Island: Middlesex Country: England Street Address:

NOTE: - William Snr Carpenter Journeyman and son William is now an Upholsterer !!: ................................
The birth should be one of these:
Births Dec 1857 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roberts Charles William Kensington 1a 95
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Births Jun 1858 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roberts Charles Kensington 1a 50 Roberts Charles Daniel Kensington 1a 88 *********
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Births Jun 1859 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ROBERTS Charles William Kensington 1a 79
It is possible that William Snr. settled more into the Upholstery side as he got older??

P.S.
Baptism records show the birth as this one?

Sorry - forget all the above .......... Sorry !!!
It was worth a look but I have now found Charles the Carpenter's son marrying Mary Parker in 1878.
I will leave it posted so that you can discount it though.
Back to the search.
Do you have 'your' Charles with Emma on any census after their marriage that I could take a look at please?

According to my family, Charles totally disapeared after his 3rd child was born in 1888, and by 1901 his wife was living with a new guy.. I presume he died sometime between 1888 and 1901, but I can't place a death certificate or find anything that backs that up! But I do know for sure that his wife did get together with a new bloke by 1901, which is why he can't be found with her on the census, what really happened to him.. I have no idea.

That's the ones. It's abit of a pain tracing Charles.. :| The last census he must of appeared on would of been the 1881, but not knowing where he was born makes it so much more difficult!
I was looking down the line of him possibly being from Mile end, and his mother being a 'Ann Maria' Or ann, or maria.. or somthing. But since my ancestry membership run out I haven't had much success xD

Another good find. One thing that i'm not to sure about.. it says frances is a widow, but on Charles marriage it doesn't say anything about his father being deceased.. it could be wrong, but its just somthing random I thought of.
