Jacqueline Report 5 May 2009 01:02

I have a Joseph and Janet Price nee Henderson on my tree I think he was born in Scotland but I have just found out from the birth record of their fourth child who was born in November 1852 that he was deceased at the time of the birth and had been residing in London. Janet must have returned home to give birth They were married in 1844 and Janet was born on 19 May 1812 in Roxburghshire unable to find a birth for Joseph as I do not know who his parents were. I do know that they had another son William Salter Price (found this from William's marriage cert unable to find birth). I have looked for them in the 1851 census in Scotland but have had no luck finding them. I wonder if anybody can find them in 1851 in London. Joseph was a reporter

Many thanks

Jackie

edit Janet was also known as Jessie

Many Thanks now I know why I cannot find anything for him in Scotland I just assumed as all other relatives were born there he would be too. I have the birth record thats where I found out that he was deceased as it states on the extract that he was residing in what looks like West Bromwich London. Will now have to familiarise myself with English records

Jackie

edit birth states residing in London(of West Bromwich)obv meaning thats where he came from my lack of knowledge of English counties is my only excuse for not realisng that West Bromwich is not an area of London

Yep I have her info parents and siblings I know nothing about him apart from the fact he was residing in Edinburgh when the bans for the marriage were posted and he was a reporter there are no parents details of his on marriage cert only Janets father is given. I do not even know where Staffordshire is - what an admission!!!! I cannot hovever find Janet?Jessie on any census in Scotland so I am assuming that she returned down south after the birth of Joseph in 1852

Have now managed to find the entries on Scoltands People for the census records many thanks. It does not look like William or John's births were actually registered as I have searched the births and on both census they state that they were born in Edinburgh but each one quotes a different area I think they just made the info up to suit themselves. Re Joesph I guess that I am at a standstill with that one but I do wonder where the Salter comes from in William's name as it appears in every second generation of Williams' from then on alternating with Alexander.

Many thanks for your help a fresh pair or eyes makes all the difference

1871 the image states Walsall 1861 just states England for Archibald so alteast he is consistent. I have now managed to find Jessies death as I had Williams marriage in 1875 and she was deceased on the cert. Joseph I think will have to remain an enigma

I have just found out that Archibald Price died in Edinburgh on 13 July 1883 as a result of a hemorrage due to fracture of the skull the death cert states that he was married at the time to a Jane MacDonald so the marriage would have to have taken place between 1871 and 1883 but despite looking on SP I have been unable to find it. Any help would be much appreciated. The informant was his brother William Salter Price

Many Thanks

Thought I would nudge this up as if there are any new members looking into the Price family they may have info on Joseph's death as it still has not been found. To recap he died before the death of his fourth child in November 1852 so working out dates he would have been alive in January/Feb atleast in order to have managed to get his wife pregnant. According to his sons birth record he was residing in London at the time of his death but originally came from West Bromwich. The 1851 census sees him in 3 Walnut Cottages, St. Mary's , Reading, Berkshire.

Regards Jackie Any help would be much appreciated.
