He is my maternal great grandfather according to the 1891 census (Pat) Mulheron was born in Cleland near Motherwell Lanarkshire Scotland in 1862. I have looked on SP and also Martha Street Records in Glasgow and I can't his Scottish birth. His parents were James Mulheron and Mary Gallagher I have no marriage for them. Can anyone help please?

Have you found him on earlier censuses to verify that he was in Scotland?

Have you considered the possibility of mistranscription of the entry?

If you view that birth in Shotts on SP that I posted earlier it will tell you if his parents are the correct ones..

Fanny 1901 Census with Alice aged 1 is the family because Alice was my Grandmother I have that record in my files.

You need to view the birth in Shotts to find out if it is him.

Potty, My g. grandfather died 2nd May 1922 he was 59 years old, so he was born 1862-1863. I know it listed his birth year as 1866 but I think people lied on the Census about ages and places of birth

safc will check out the 1858 marriage in Hamilton because that it on 2 miles from where Patrick was born

Will check out all the records plus the one for Sarah Docherdy after dinner. Will post what I find, fingers crossed we have the right people. watch this space

Thank you all so much. I checked out the birth of Patrick Mulhearn in Shotts & it is my great grandfather. The certificate states he was born at Omoa Works which is Cleland which is in the parish of Shotts. The marriage of his parents was in Hamilton and they were resident in Cleland, parish of Shotts.I live in Motherwell and never in a million years would I have connected Cleland with Shotts.

You are an amazing bunch of people, I could never have done this without you. Thank you once again. Now I can try and find siblings for Patrick.
