Ive been having a little difficulty trying to find the 1891 census record for my great great great grandad John Oecken. He was born in Prussia in about 1837 and married to Johanna. They lived at 1 Savoy steps in previous census records but due to the unusual spelling of the surname I cant seem to find the 1891 census for them. I am led to believe they are the only family to have this surname in England at the time but could be wrong. His occupation was a taylor and his daughters Louisa (1863) and Emma (1864) may be living with them. Any help would be appreciated! |

Thanks so much for the info and such a quick reply! The surname Eiken is not one I have tried before so that is a great help. John's name was actually Friedrich and Oecken was spelt differently before moving to England (it included some umlauts here and there hence the variations). From what I know Whilhelmina was Johanna's middle name, her first daughter also shared it. Thanks again for the info! |
