I am trying to find any information for Joseph Noble, born West Yorkshire
( I think).
My Great Grandfather was John Noble born Morley West Yorks. 1865 married to Edith Noble (nee) Sheard about 1888 and lived in Brighouse. My Grandfather was Stanley Noble born Brighouse 1900

so where does Joseph figure then?

Is this the family in l9ll - they state they have had eight children, and four have died - Liz

Have you got John's marriage certificate for Father's name and occupation?
And/or his birth certificate?

In 1891 there are 2 John Nobles, both born 1865 Churwell. One is married to Eda with daughter Clara, as in 1901. The other is unmarried with Father Joseph.
You need that marriage certificate.

No at this moment, but John was a stone mason

It is the one married to Eda and they did have a daughter Clara

Both John's in 1891 are stone miners.
My point is that you were asking about Father Joseph, that one John with Father Joseph in 1891 is not married.
So why did you think Joseph was the Father with no marriage certificate?

I think my John was born in Morley, I applied for a copy of John & Eda's marriage certificate, it named Joseph as his father, but, when I applied for Joseph & Ann's marriage certificate they could not trace it

When I applied for John & Eda's certificate it named a Joseph as John's father, I searched the name Joseph Noble and found one married to an Ann, so I then applied to Halifax Reg. Office for a marriage certificate for Joseph & Ann Noble but they could not find one.

Many Thanks, I will now once again apply for Joseph's and Ann's marriage certificate, however, the Reg. office returned my cheque the last time?

Getting confused now...

Joseph and Ann's son Henry, for mother's maiden name:
Births Mar 1870
NOBLE Henry Dewsbury 9b 627
(Churwell comes under Dewsbury)
but not necessarily correct family.

I'll try and search for information on Henry and see what I can come up with, although the the names Joseph , Ann and Henry Nelle have cropped up a lot through out my searches.

If Henry were 5 months on 1871 census,then that is not his birth. Bother.
