On 1911 census i have this family
henry noble age 62 ,,fish porter
ellen noble age 58
married 36 yrs
daughters
ellen holland age 35 widow [she married 1900 to bernard holland in west ham]
no children as all 4 died
annie noble age 22[ no occ given]
these were the only two children born to henry and ellen
the whole family say they were born in london and were living at 23 chapel cort boro

parish southwark st george the martyr

I cant find any of them in 1901 or 1891
can anyone else please?

Have looked in the 81,91 & 01

Nothing in the last 2 but there is a William Noble in the 81 with the same Occ as Henry whose wife is also called Ellen & a daughter called Ellen too....But the were 2 many children.

The thing is not knowing if he is Henry or Harry....& if she is Ellen, Helen or Nelly....Sorry

This is the Noble Family living at 23 Chapel Court in 1901. Henry is William and one of the daughters is called Margaret. Would that be Ellen?

I have to keep coming and going today but this is the same family in 1881. They appear to have a few more children than you state but it has to be the same family because they were living at the right address in 1891. It's really confusing. Are you sure that they only had the two children?

I am going on the 1911 census where the person who filled it out states that they had only two children born to them.
so they could well have lied and here the same people are in 1891

more and more mysterious about the kids and the change of namefrom william to henry but ive only been able to find deaths for sarah and william [probs them anyway] between 1891 and 1901

of course as wales 1911 rae not online yet i cant check there
but there are none in reading 1911 that can be her
but i did find edith paddock that married mr thorn.

I'm still kinda braindead from last week, and still have work to finish ... but it sure looks good, doesn't it?

havent found a marriage to match,only the death
william comes into it as my m.i.l mentioned a william once and its the only one found that has the name william/henry
an aubrey in the family would have convinced me 110%
but i dont think we will get closer
unless i can find their school records in reading

still trying for anyone visiting the central library there
im told it holds some of them.

m.i.l said once that henry junior was reputed to be of scandanavian sailor stock on the unknown fathers side
if my memory of the conversation is correct
but you know family stories,he could just as well have been a passing traveller and the boys prob have different fathers anyway.
my son is pure celt looking so no scandanavian came out in him!
