Does anyone have a Minnie Moss in their ancestry, last known in Harrogate, Yorkshire 1916/17 age estimated 20/25 years, date and place of birth not known. Possibly moved to Scotland but not definite. Little to go on I know, but I have hit a brick wall. May have originated in London area. |

Lots of Minnie Mosses in trees on this site Alfred. Take a look in the search trees facility above and you will see what I mean. A bit more info would be really useful. Cx |

Irene. Don't have a middle name or initial. Not shown on dad's birth certificate. Date of birth not known - around 1825. May have had theatrical connections, and worked in munitions in WW1? Very little to go on. |

Cynthia. Therein lies my problem. Lack of even basic information, and all potential sources now deceased. I am stabbing in the dark. Any one of the London addresses could be the right one, but which? |

Hi Alfred, I'm a little confused. What isn't shown on her dad's birth certificate? Who was born in 1825? It certainly can't have been Minnie as that would mean she was in her 90's in WW1 !!! |

Are we to assume that Minnie was unmarried when she had her son? |

Cynthia. I have mistyped the date of birth - this should read 1895 approx. The birth certificate I have is for MY father, giving Minnie Wallace (formerly Moss) as the mothers name, and Ronald Haddow Wallace as the father, but no ages given which I believe is normal. Place of birth Nidd Vale Terrace, Harrogate 19th May 1916. That is just about all I know. I doubt whether they were married as I have not been able to trace any record of a marriage. |

Why don't people give ALL relevant info when asking others to use time and resources to help them? |

I know a good deal about Ronald Haddow Wallace already including details of his ww1 service record. Some other small details have now come to light thanks to the foregoing. It is Minnie Moss who I am trying to find out about. Where did she come from, where did she go? One year after giving birth to my father in May 1916, he was left in forster care and she vanished never to be heard of from that day to this. |

It is never a waste of time and I appreciate your efforts. There are some details you have come up with which I didn't know. Other information confirms what I have discovered. I apologise if I have misled you, but the object of my search is my paternal grandmother Minnie Moss about whom we know very little indeed apart from her name and where she was in 1916 at the time of my father's birth i.e. Harrogate |
