I am trying to find my Grandmothers family Lucy Emily Clark Born 1885 some of my family think she was born in Middlesex. I have found the record of when she married my Grandfather Herbert Edgar Balfour on 12.2.1911 in Edmonton. They emigrated to Australia in 1954. They adopted a daughter (who would be my fathers sister) Annie Georgina Griffin born 6.4.1910 but I am unable to trace anything for this birth either. Can anyone help as to where I could look for adopted children. Many thanks Carol |

Formal adoption didn't start until 1927 so I doubt you will find any record of the adoption. |

There are too many Henry Clark births around the right time in Mile End to be sure of which is yours. |

Henery John Clark B 1860 I have got his marriage certificate. As already mentioned he married Susannah Neagle B 1862 It gives Henery's father as William Clark Picture Frame Maker and Susannah's Father as William Neagle Ship Carpenter. But with all this information I am still unable to find Henery's family, I have looked through many many William Clark's but none shown as Picture frame maker. Any ides where I might try next. Thanks Carol |

I have spent another few hours trying to find a William Clark that could match Henery Clark's father ( my Great Grandfather ) do you think there is any hope of me finding him with such a common name and only his occupation. I have been able to find Susannah Neagle's family through getting the marriage certificate. |

The trouble is that people often changed their occupation, so even though William was a Picture Frame Maker when Henry married, he may have been something else altogether in earlier years. |

Hi Kathleen On the marriage certificate for Henery it was only signed by Susannah's brother and sister John and Elizabeth Neagle, that is what has made it easier to trace her side of the family. If you do find anything more or can help any more it would be gratefully appreciated, thanks for your help so far. Carol |

I am trying to find out what could have happened to my Grandmother Lucy Emily Clark b1885 and her sisters Lilian S Clark b1883 and Beartrice Clark b1887. Their parents Henry John Clark b1859 - 1892 and Susannah Neagle b1863 - 1893 died when they where young. I have looked through Grandparents, Brother and Sister's of their parents but can find no trace. In the 1891 census they were living together in Hackney, but I cannot find them in the 1901 census. I wondered if Lucy and Beartrice went into an Orphanage. I suppose in 1901 all three of them could have been working. I know Lucy got married in 1911, I have tried to find if Lilian and Beartrice got married but no luck. |
