Not just any social worker will be allowed to look at your files. You will have one allocated ( I guess from The childrens services section, not certain on that point) who will be able to find out the things you want to know. he or she will always be there for you,and help you

We dont even know what you want to know, so cannot really help.

That is exactly what I am trying to say Jody,

I am not in your position - 'WE' on here are not in your position, so we don't know the true facts!!

The best help you can receive is from someone who knows the full situation - who knows 'YOU', and therefore knows the best way to help 'YOU' !!!

'YOU' are the important one here !!

It is all well and good for people to throw information at you (if they have it), but that does not help you to sort through your situation - You can not do it alone !!

I have been - although adopted myself - looking for those that gave birth to me.

Were you all taken away or just you?

What are you hoping to find out? where they are now, or just find out about them?

yea ok i understand what your saying dea, and i'm not angry with my adoptive parents its just hard to get because you arn't in my possition. thankyou for the advise though.

Hi Jody,

Believe me, - I would love to help you and there are many people on here who would say the same.

However, we must take into account:

1). your age - I KNOW that there are some very mature 16 year olds, but there are also some very 'young' ones - we do not know which one you are !!

2). Your obvious anger at your adoptive family - we do not know the circumstances of why this is and whether it is caused by them or by you? - No-one is judging here !!

3). Anyone who helps on here should really make sure that you have emotional support to see you through what your next steps might be - otherwise they may be doing more harm than good !

I do hope you find what you are looking for but it is important that you go about it in the correct way, otherwise you might end up 'hurting' even more.

You really do need the right people to help you.

How old were you - how much do you know of your circumstances? ( please dont say publicly, its just ''do you know why'')

Did the others stay with your parents or aren't you sure?

are they older or younger than you?

i wernt either i had a residance order

OK, well, when you get that cert its not going to tell you much you dont know already.

Were you actually adopted? or fostered


if you were adopted formally, then you need to contact the post adoption service at your local county council - they will really help you. its their job

i am going threw the right channels i have my friends mum looking with me and shes a youth support worker and her friend is a social worker that is hopefully going to help me aswell

i'm 16, and i havnt had a social worker for many years now, and yea iv sent off for a full birth certificate so hopefully that shoul be useful to me

Jody if you really want to find your family, please go through the correct channels. You are far too young to try to doing this yourself

so you have a short birth cert - you need your full one.

do you have a social worker that could help you with this ? you are young to be ''going it alone''

well i dont live with my adoptive parents anymore and i dont speak to them. i have my birth certificate but it dont have and of my parents names on, just says where i were born.

Jody- you need your birth cert this will name your parents , and give your mothers maiden name if she and your father were married.

Have you tried a name search on this site, friends reunited or 192.com
