Heather, it's not until they've gone that you think about family history is it.

If you come up with any further information, please post it and we can have another look.

Can't see any Agnes G Hodgkinson being born around that time.

Think you should send for the birth certificate of Agnes E born 1894 in Chorley and see who parents are.

Sorry just had to nip out to shop!! Choccy thank you - that is my grandmother!!!!! I know they lived in Harpers lane at some time and the little info. past on to me mentioned parents as Thomas and ? so it all fits. Thank you so much.

Lancashireann, thanks too for your input. Maybe Eva was Kathleen and I never knew. I am hoping to speak to a distant family member later on (she won't be home yet) and she may be able to throw some light on the William Hodgkinson side of family regarding Eva. I will post when I know anything and hopefully confirm you are on right track. I do know that Eva married someone called GILLET/GILLETT

Heather

Heather Report 27 May 2009 16:21

I know Agnes belonged to St. Peters Church as that is where she is buried so seems that Thomas and Sarah are her parents.

Oooh definitely proves she was Kathleen Eva!!!!!!! Yes she married Fred GILLETT. They had no children sadly and neither did her sister Dorothy.

I am so pleased at what has turned up today - it confirms one or two things I already knew but was not sure of and definitely found out somethings new. What a great afternoon!!!

Heather Report 27 May 2009 20:14

Just to update you all. The 1911 entry for William and Agnes is my family. Spoke to a family friend who can confirm they lived at that address. Just for your interest there was a daughter, Elizabeth A Hodgkinson who died whilst having her tonsils out on the kitchen table!!!!!! How terrible that must have been.
As for William Hodgkinson still cannot confirm his first marriage to Ann Ashcroft but somewhere down the line the name Hilda rang a bell with my friend so from your findings she died at about 6 months old so quite possibly not talked about. Mary Francis Kellett who married William in 1925 came from Burscough (Lancashire) but might not have been born there. Seems her parents were tinkers or something like that.

Well, thanks once again for your help, Heather

Ooh you've done it again Choccy!!!! That is my Mary Francis as I know she was from Hoscar Moss and its such a tiny place it has to be her. I know that when she married William his sister, Agnes, was rather unkind to her as she felt William had married beneath him (even though Williams family was working class). Glad to say that in later life Agnes and Frances were good friends so alls well that ends well. Thanks again
