A search of Chorley 1875-1911 gets:

Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1887
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
HODGKINSON Thomas BENNETT Sarah Ann St Peter, Chorley Preston C11/1/426

Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1903
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
HODKINSON George BENNETT Bertha St James, Chorley Preston C9/2/169

So probably Florrie belongs to the G-less HODKINSONs

Been reading through all your postings and now know my Agnes Ellen belonged to Thomas Hodgkinson and Sarah Bennett (no connection with the Hodgkinson/Hall also found in Euxton). At 10.13 mgnv posted that Elizabeth died at age 21 and I can confirm this is true (as I said she died having her tonsils out). I note there is also a birth of a Florrie HODKINSON (Mothers maiden name BEnnett) but is this same family or just a typing error? If she is part of the family then no-one knew about her.

Will spend some time later looking at info. provided going back from Thomas Hodgkinson.
Thanks, Heather

Just logged in to see what's happening - sorry I am going shopping with my gaughter today!! Glad to see you are all still interested with my family tree. I will look at all your postings later and see what you have found. All I can confirm is that you have found my Agnes Ellen and William Hodgkinson. Their parents were Thomas Hodgkinson and Sarah a Bennett married in 1887. (I notice you have gone back even further and I promise to get back to you later in the day

As Annie said re the army records, there were two Williams knocking around, both born abt 1888, although there only seems to be a rego for Wm, (viz s/o Thomas + Sarah Ann Hodgkinson MS Bennett). We know he's Agnes Ellen's bro from the 1911 census. Here's Thos in 1881 (at same addy):

Firstly, re Annie G's very early posts
There's no entry like her Agnes Ellen in the GRO index image at FreeBMD, and also Preston doesn't have page #s in the 1000s that I can see - quite odd.

This looks to be her 1901 census family, although Eliz is missing.

Ooh you've done it again Choccy!!!! That is my Mary Francis as I know she was from Hoscar Moss and its such a tiny place it has to be her. I know that when she married William his sister, Agnes, was rather unkind to her as she felt William had married beneath him (even though Williams family was working class). Glad to say that in later life Agnes and Frances were good friends so alls well that ends well. Thanks again

Thanks for the update Heather, particularly the tonsils operation!! How dreadful.

Heather

Heather Report 27 May 2009 20:14

Just to update you all. The 1911 entry for William and Agnes is my family. Spoke to a family friend who can confirm they lived at that address. Just for your interest there was a daughter, Elizabeth A Hodgkinson who died whilst having her tonsils out on the kitchen table!!!!!! How terrible that must have been.
As for William Hodgkinson still cannot confirm his first marriage to Ann Ashcroft but somewhere down the line the name Hilda rang a bell with my friend so from your findings she died at about 6 months old so quite possibly not talked about. Mary Francis Kellett who married William in 1925 came from Burscough (Lancashire) but might not have been born there. Seems her parents were tinkers or something like that.

Well, thanks once again for your help, Heather

Oooh definitely proves she was Kathleen Eva!!!!!!! Yes she married Fred GILLETT. They had no children sadly and neither did her sister Dorothy.

I am so pleased at what has turned up today - it confirms one or two things I already knew but was not sure of and definitely found out somethings new. What a great afternoon!!!

I know Agnes belonged to St. Peters Church as that is where she is buried so seems that Thomas and Sarah are her parents.
