Stray, just to let you know. Camden Market next to the Tube is still in operation.

The Market on the canal, part of that was destroyed by fire a little time ago, and the regeneration of Camden has also closed down part of that market.

However, Camden Lock is still thriving, and has expanded. Have you seen the statues of the horses, and the one of Amy Winehouse?

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 15 May 2016 21:01

Not sure what I am doing yet, o.h. is close to a breakdown over the problems with his father. Today he had a confrontation with a new neighbour, and is still dwelling on the subject. I think he will end up in hospital himself soon, either that or in jail. He is already banned from going to the family home without permission as he and his sister went round and she threatened the stepmother, who called the police. The sister drove off so o.h. waited to explain to the police but nearly got arrestedhimself!

I will probably try to come just for the day, so will cancel my provisional hotel booking and the first nonrefundable coach funfares and book an early coach and will return late evening. Will let you know eta nearer the day.

Looking forward to meeting new faces and seeing Uzzi and others met last year and before.

Thanks Joy, his Dad had the stroke at the end of November and it's been non-stop hassle since, he hasn't been co-operative, wouldn't try to help himself so hasn't made the progress he could have, caused upset between his wife and his family so they are all at odds with each other. His son in law caused some mischief that had others worried and involved the police, so now no one is talking to him. The old man, 84, went from hospital to a rehab place then got a place in a nice care home but got aggressive with night staff at rehab so lost the place. He was then put in an interim care home and last week was moved into another care home. 2 days later he was taken back to hospital, as he couldn't breathe. It was found he has a chest infection and sent back to new carehome with antibiotics. His wife won't visit unless one of her sons takes her and goes in with her as he makes demands on her that are unacceptable, she's frail anyway and is scared now of the sisters especially. She's been their stepmother for over 40 yrs, their mother had mental health issues and died when they were in their teens, o.h was 20.

I have never seen such hatred and vicious comments from the sisters before, they want her out of the house but luckily one of her sons is a clever chap and is sorting her affairs out to make sure she is ok, but he lives near Oxford so not on hand.

It's a nightmare that o.h. can't cope with and I bear the brunt of his confusion and attitude towards his stepmum because I look out for her, knowing what she has already gone through with his controlling father.

And so it all goes on, with a dispute with a new neighbour, who happens to be Polish, he is lucky he wasn't arrested for being racist!

See you at the weekend I hope

Eck Liz what a nightmare for you, Hopefully you will make it down for the day at least.

Joy the hotel is so close to the coach station, 2min walk away. that I might stagger there at 6 am after all I've been getting up at 5.30 am here. Do you come into bus or coach station ? Where is open for breakfast at that time of day ? Hotel check in is 2pm but as usual if you can´t get in early there will be my room to drop cases off. :-0

I´m off to Shepherds Bush on Wednesday :-S :-S step mammy rang and said do you know where the new HUGE shopping centre is as I will meet you there. Can´t remember the name of it but there are loads of places to eat. What´s it called said I and which cafe ? I don´t know said she. okay pick a cafe in there. I don´t know whats in there ......yeah right a huge shopping centre on 3 floors and you want me to find you :-0 :-D. I haven´t been to the Bush in over 16yrs I´ll find it ha ha. Might have to do a detour around the market :-D :-D

Dragged the case out and threw some clothes on top of it yesterday, better sort them out today ;-)

Just think 1 week today and I´ll be getting ready to come home :-D :-D

Uzzi the Willow Walk is open from 8am on Saturdays. Weatherspoons so presumably they do a breakfast.

Sorry to hear your problems Liz. Hope all works out well. <3

Stray the Amy statue is very popular, tourists have their photo taken with her. The Stables is the market with all the statues of the horses, well worth a look around.

Camden Lock has changed so much. We used to take the kids there after school, it used to have a real mix of stalls, home-made stuff. It has got bigger, and more much of a muchness, but still worth a look around if you are in London.

:-) <3

I'm disappointed I won't see Mo and Lea, but perhaps next year. I will also miss our lovely Wendy xx

I am hoping to get to the meet on Saturday if my gammy knee behaves. I will be staying with my youngest daughter who is coming with me up to Kings Cross by train and a bus to Victoria to save me going on the tube again . I have just got back tonight from down there after going to see Il Divo on Friday night with another daughter. My days of travelling on the tubes are gone unless they get modernised like the Jubilee Line. Not in my time I'm afraid.

I am also looking forward to meeting the members I haven't met.

Have a safe flight Uzzi ! and see you all Saturday.. Hast la vista ....
