Christening Place: St. Michael's, Southampton, Hampshire, England
Father's Name: James Scorey
Mother's Name: Arabella

Catherine

Catherine Report 23 Apr 2015 22:17

I thought James (1824) was maybe Richard's son and therefore William's brother but doesn't look to be the case.

Then I thought that they may be brother's, but that doesn't look to be the case either.

James' parents seem to be James and Sarah:-

Name: James Scorey
Gender: Male
Christening Date: 08 Feb 1824
Christening Place: St. Peter and St. Paul, Fareham, Hampshire, England
Father's Name: James Scorey
Mother's Name: Sarah Scorey
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: I04053-6 , System Origin: England-EASy , GS Film number: 1596130 , Reference ID: 176

and Richard's parents look to be Richard and Mary:-

Name: Richard Scorey
Gender: Male
Christening Date: 17 Feb 1805
Christening Place: St. Mary's, Southampton, Hampshire, England
Father's Name: Richard Scorey
Mother's Name: Mary
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: I03816-1 , System Origin: England-EASy , GS Film number: 1041724 , Reference ID: item 5

..................so they are probably related somewhere, but ?

Does anyone have ancestry access to view public trees at all? Its just its showing there are a possible 9 family trees with Edward Scorey born 1880 - Southampton and died 28.05.1956 Southampton in them. It wont let me view them though as I'm not a paid member.
With thanks

I wouldn't say a needle in a haystack, just a lot of looking up to do.

Hi moonstar, I've just had a look on ancestry but can't see any trees with Edward Scorey born 1880 Southampton?

There are 11 with Edwin Scorey born 1879/1880 Southampton.

1 has mother as Selina but no father's name
2 have mother as Selina and father as William
1 has mother as Selina and father as William T
1 has mother as Selina Davis and father as William Henry

and

6 have mother as Selina Davis and father as William Thomas.

but none give a date of death?

Will take another look to see where I've gone wrong.

Catherine

Catherine Report 24 Apr 2015 17:44

If his death is recorded under Edward, then Andrew's birth record posted earlier looks to be him then. :-)

Solar

Solar Report 24 Apr 2015 17:55

thank you for all your help, much appreciated. I agree about Andrew's birth record being a likely match. It's so frustrating isn't it. My family are positive there is a connection with Edward/Edwin Scorey, his wife Ada Stagg and their daughter Olive May Scorey (later married Albert E Mair) and my great grand mother Agnes Esther Watson Scorey but proving it is something else! :-S

Solar

Solar Report 26 Apr 2015 09:23

Is anyone free to find Ada Stagg born 1883 and her parents (Ernest Walter Stagg - 1853 and Elizabeth Saunders - 1851 on the census records as I need to check who Ada's siblings were now.
Many thanks

sorry forgot to say, need the 1891 and 1901 census please

and the 1911 which you already have. I will submit a correction for the surname.

They had been married for 38 years and had 10 children, all were still living. That is extremely unusual not to have lost any children.:-)
