This story is confusing Sylvia was married to David L Thomas in Jan Feb or mar 1950 District Haverfordwest Record Vol 8c page 803 in feb 1952 she gave birth to my husband he was registered by her as Bernard Thomas but also by his Dad as Bernard Walsh she was never divorced from David but left my Husband her son in the care of his Aunt and Uncle on his fathers side before she disappeared from his life he was about 8 wks old. All he wants to know is why? and has he any siblings as he is nearly 60 yrs old now it would be nice for him to find out if she had any more children. my husbands birth record is Registration District Durham North Eastern Registration County
Durham Volume Number1A Volume Page 682 Her maiden name was Didcote

Are you saying that Sylvia's husband was not the father of her son?

Flick

To find possible siblings for your husband, look for births which have the same MMN as his.

There are two births on freebmd you should look at in Haverfordwest in 1951.......one of them MAY be your husband's sibling. They can't both be, as they are in the same qtr on different pages

Yes that is right we can only assume that she had an affair with my Husbands father Thomas Walsh and then maybe went back to her husband without her son we really don't know.

This might sound silly but what does MMN stand for and how do i get onto freebmd

Rose there are a number of births in the Haverfordwest district about that time with the mothers maiden name of Didcote.

I won't post them here as the people may still be alive. I will send you them by Private Message.

Jonesy

Why not let Rose look for the info herself?

Surely you aren't implying that she isn't capable of so doing?

Flick,

I am not implying any such thing. I did what I did for 2 reasons:

A) As Rose did not recognise MMN I thought that she may be fairly new to family history.

B) Because of the dates involved all of the births were unlikely to be available on the site www.freebmd.org.uk but were available on a site that I subscribe to but thought that Rose may not.

If we are being really pernickity I might well ask you why you did not give her the full site address for Freebmd rather than just the site name or why you did not fully write Mothers Maiden Name rather than use its abbreviation.

What really matters is that Rose now has some leads with which to work with for which she is obviously grateful.

Sylvia's sister Grace also married a Thomas so some of the Thomas/Didcote births won't all belong to Sylvia.
