Please GR can we have the "quote" function activated. This will stop misunderstandings happening when replying to a posts not directly before one's reply. It would also help when making a point in a debate.

This function is available on other SMF forums I frequent and is a welcomed addition.

I support this option

It makes it very clear, as to whom you are responding , when there are multi postings

TootyFruity, I think that's a fantastic idea and that function is available on other forums that I also use

nothing worse than reading a post and having to search the whole thread in order to make head nor tail of what the post is about or what the post is in response too

I'll support that suggestion!

Some sites have the option where you choose whether or not you include the text, dependant on if you're actually replying to a post or making a general comment.

The only problem with some sites where the quote facility is used is that you can lose the sense of the comment if they use quotes within quotes boxes..eg my final response might include quotes from several people..... me quoting Sylvia quoting GB quoting the original poster....( bit hard to describe lol) multiple quote boxes can be a bit daunting to work through?

But having said that I don't think that will happen here as most people only quote the relevant info.

If the quote facility is not possible I would like to see the 'edited at - time' shown , that would help towards stopping any member going back to the opening post and substantially changing it to alter the meaning.... leaving the following posters looking silly or nasty as their comments don't seem to 'fit'. Many sites have this..."edited at" (time) "for" (reason).

GlitterBaby, This site's FAQ's explains how it is done and there are others that also allow you to just select the specific part of a post your "quoting" where their may be several paragraphs that you don't want or need

Edit; To summerise, So possibly in GR's case if they add a "Quote button" that would be on all posts, Possibly? along the top where the posters board name, report button, and time+date is listed, you would click on that which should then open the box with the "Quote" and where you add your text, Then just click on the submit button to post as normal

Hope that helps

Community Advisor Report 3 Sep 2013 10:03

3rd September 2013 – A round-up of the latest suggestions from the Suggestions Board:

A couple of suggestions have been brought forward on the Suggestions Board, they have been answered in previous round-ups, and the original responses are below. I don’t have any further updates for these two at the moment.

• Can we have the ‘quote’ function activated. This will stop misunderstandings happening when replying to posts not directly before one’s reply. This function is available on other SMF forums and would be a welcomed addiction.
- Thanks for this suggestion; I know that quite a few members have requested this. It may not be a quick change because the way in which our boards have been created but we will look into how we can make this possible. I’ll keep you updated when I know more.

Why, and how will this enhance the way the majority of members use the site?
