You could try local papers to see if he is mentioned -

or The London Gazette in case he won an award or was an officer.

This is presumably the death ( from freebmd)

Updated since then, info re how to apply for a copy of his record - but you would probably need to supply more facts than you appear to have:

Some records are with the MOD, and are free to order, but others are with the National Archives, and there may be a charge for those.
All service records are gradually being transferred to the National Archives.

In 1947 (and again in 1948) he's on the Service Register of the Electoral Roll for Saddleworth, as a member of the Forces.

Simeon was my father he live in Sadlleworth Yorkshire does anyone know which regiment he was in during WW2. I only saw him ounce or twice so I do know he survived the war. at the time of his death he was living in Shaw, Oldham Lancashire .
