Hi
I'm looking for information on William McKay 7th Lancers.
Died in 1893 aged 46, date of birth 1847/8.
May have been in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham Dublin when he died.
Married Catherine McKay nee Looney in 1872 in Co. Cork Ireland.
I think they had 5 children.
Fathers name James McKay a builder.
Trying to find a service record and William's place of birth and mother's name.
Thanking you in advance.
Frank

Hi ArgyllGran
Thanks for that,
that's him, I should have said the 17th Lancers not the 7th.
I think he saw service in India and South Africa.

The marriage cert is marginally helpful.

Oct 5th 1872, in the Roman Catholic Chapel at Ballincollig [?]
William McKay, full age, bachelor, soldier.
Residence at marriage: Ballincollig.
Father James McKay, deceased, printer.

EDIT:
Oh, I see you say his father was a builder? It looks like "printer" to me.

Catherine Looney, full age, spinster, servant.
Address: Ballincollig.
Father: Daniel Looney, deceased, labourer.

Witnesses: Theobald Murphy and Ellen Duggan.
