But remember that so-called "hot matches" aren't necessarily any relation to you - they're just people with the same names and years of birth as people in your tree.

Thanks for the clarification. Long term member yes, recent paid subscriber. So all I can do is wait...

as a small addition to that, when someone stops paying a sub ( unless they delete their whole account) they stay as a free member, so could receive messages via GR, but if they change their email without notifying GR the messages won't find them.

Check whether the 'envelope' is still closed in your "sent" messages if it is, the message has not been read.

5. By email

1. No

2. No

3 Yes / no

4. No. (Except by sending a message and waiting for a reply)

Your profile indicates that you have been a GR member since January 2005

Your best bet is to send messages. - and see what happens!

I'm a new subscriber attempting to connect with hot matches from my tree, but am wondering:
1. if tree owners aren't subscribers themselves, would the G.R.team ever notify them that they have messages pending?
2. if they were subscribers but their subscription came to an end would they not be advised in any case of any incoming mail to their account?
3. do out of date subscriptions remain on the site or are they subsequently removed?
4. is it possible to check whether tree owners are currently subscribed to G.R?
5. are subscribers advised of incoming messages via email or only when logged on to the site?
Thanks anyone who can answer.
