The descendants of those particular McKillops are highly unlikely to see your post here, let alone reply - if they even know about what happened.

With the little information you have, the Coatbridge birth certificate seems to be the place to start.
If the birth date turns out to match your grandfather's, then you (with our help here on this thread, if you wish) can find out more about his background by the method described by Dougie.

If the birth date is not the same, then I'm afraid you're stumped unless you can trace his adoption.

My late father was adopted and technically the only one allowed access to their file is the adopted person.

I was successful in my search and it is fair to say that you have more information than I had when I begun my research.

ArgyllGran is correct if you wish to pursue your research then you will have buy a copy of his original birth certificate.

This birth certificate will give you the name of his mother(your Great Grandmother)

If you live in Scotland you can go to any local registry office and buy a copy birth,death or marriage certificate which you will be given then and there.
The cost is £15.00.

There were three women born between 1912 and 1913 in the Coatbridge Area who would be of child bearing age in 1933.

There is a possibility that one of them was the mother of your Grandfather.

If this is found to be correct then if you then bought a copy of this lady's birth certificate it would then give you the name of her parents.

A copy of the 1911 Census would then give you information if the lady had siblings

There would appear to be a large number of people living in the Coatbridge Area with the surname of McKillop.

There's one McKillop born in Coatbridge in 1933, with middle name Thomas.

Is that the one you mean, Rambling?

you would have to buy a copy of the birth cert for the Coatbridge child to check the actual date of birth - if you feel it's enough of a possibility to be worth the cost.

The birth cert would cost you £12, through the SP website.

Using Scotlands people and the search term McKillop Glasgow there is only one born 1933. But you would probably need to widen the area and also consider surname McKillops.

My paternal grandfather was adopted out.
I've made it a personal mission to find the man and woman responsible,my ancestry tree is getting filled up and its looking bare on that side,my dad and his brothers and sisters arent ready to deal with it, my dad told me a name when he was drunk, mckillop.
my grandpa died in 2015, lived in colt avenue in coatbridge, a smallish town a few train stops away from Glasgow so i assume maybe the mckillops lived close or near to here or maybe the orphanage was? he was adopted by my grandmother Mary MacDonald and her husband whose first name i never got but his second name was Watson.
what i want is to find out the real story just so i am on top of the situation,i would feel indebted if the mckillop familys ancestors would message me an answer. im going to make a list of all the information that i probably forgot:
