Hi Caroline, not a good idea to put your partner's full date of birth here ... you can click 'Edit' on your post and change it to

or now that I've said that, you can just click 'Delete' on your post above mine with his birthdate in it and that will solve the problem :-)

as 'Jacqueline' says, if he is adopted, he needs to get his adoption file if he doesn't have it, to find out anything he can about Marjorie that way

it may be that she married in Cardiff in 1963 ... if he gets her full name (including middle name) it would be possible to tell whether the person who married was the same person

... I am not having luck identifying the person who married in 1963 to find her birth ... best to find out what he can from his adoption file (or his birth certificate showing her name, if he doesn't have that) first


also, make a family tree at this site ... you only need to put one person in it, your partner under his birth name (I think he may have done that already)

then if anybody from his birth family searches for him, they will find you

be sure to keep your email address up to date in your account here ... even if you are no longer a paying member, people can still send you messages

hi yes do have his original birth certificate but keep hitting brick walls would really appreciate advice or help in trying to locate her plz anybosy

does his birth certificate or his adoption file give a middle name for her or her age, for example?

has he got access to his adoption file, and if he hasn't, why doesn't he? and if he has, does it give any information about her?

I don't recommend putting personal information here like her age, but if you do know things like that please let us know

i have his name at birth there was nothing in his adoption file but do have his original birth certificate am just looking for anybody who can help

'nothing in his adoption file' means that you have no information about her age or occupation?

Caroline, you just didn't answer the questions ... you didn't say whether you knew of a middle name or an age or occupation

I have now received your PM with a bit more information (no middle name known, it seems, but an address and possible occupation)

I hunted and hunted and have identified the Marjorie who married in 1963, and have sent you the details in case you want to get that marriage certificate

... since you know Marjorie's address and possible occupation at the time of the birth, you could see whether anything on that certificate matches

(that info was sent by PM, it doesn't help with the search but it could help to compare to a marriage)

that Marjorie was of a good age, so it would have helped if your partner had any documentation showing his Marjorie's age, but it could still be worth having a look

There should have been some reports etc, and if there were not, then he needs to ask for them!


At the very least, there should be some info about her - age, marital status, occupation ( if she had one)

Does he have his original long birth cert? is a father named?

Its quite possible that if she was older ( suggestion above that she was older) that he was a result of an extra marital affair- which might change what we look for.

yes have got original birth cert but there is no d.o.b for mum and no father either

The only birth date on any birth cert is that of the child

There should be much more info in the adoption file
