I have my copy of Gone Girl .. waiting for me to read when I have finished the book I am reading and I have done 4 books for the Greaders group...

Then I want to read a NZ book called "The Book of Secrets" by Fiona Kidman. it is a novel about early NZ.. where the past haunts a lone woman in frontier Waipu. ( it is on Kindle)

Waipu is in the Northern part of NZ and in the 1850s settlers from Nova Scotia established a community there.

We have little towns like this all over NZ.. we have Dannevirke where the Danes settled and Norsewood had the Norwegian settlers... all these places have retained some of their family histories in the community.

Just finished The Twelfth Card by Jeffery Deaver,Geneva Settle 16 is under threat of death, reason not known. Lincoln Rhyme a quadriplegic criminalist and Amelia Sachs his partner are on the case. A very good book with many twists and turns and a lot of background American history.

Have just downloaded this one - it's free today and sounds interesting

World War 1 - An Unkept Promise by Frederick Coxen

'Some historians stated the story was fascinating!

The London Imperial War Museum said the journal entries of the wartime accounts to be full of interest, and his descriptions of serving with the Royal Field Artillery contain many excellent details which researchers will undoubtedly find of historical value.

The story is a non-fictional account of four friends who served in the Royal Field Artillery. Together they make a promise before their first battle, the Battle of Mons.
The first one is killed in the Battle on the Aisne, and his death is documented in Captain Fred G. Coxen's war journal.
After four years of war only Fred Coxen survived and he failed to fulfill his commitment, until his grandson, the author, begins a journey to locate a relative of each fallen soldier to fulfill his grandfather's century old promise.

The compelling journal entries will transport you into the realism of war seldom experienced in other novels'

One reviewer says - 'This is a book for serious historians and also for those who want to know more about this period of history or to work through the bureaucracy of searching any database for relatives'

Currently reading "The Art Of Racing In The Rain" by Garth Stein.

The story is told by Enzo, the family dog who has come to the end of his days and recounts his life story.

I will forever wonder about dogs after this.
Do they know more than we give them credit for?

Echoes of Marley and Me, except it's told from dog's perspective.

Absolutely loving this book and a must for all those who love their dogs <3

Just finished A moment like forever by Martina Reilly. Andrea & Lexi thought they would be friends for ever until they were involved in a bad accident. Andrea was left scarred & Lexi was nowhere to be found.

I loved this book which towards the end has a really surprising twist. A really good read.

Having cast aside several kindle books I have started, I have taken the recommendation on this thread and begun Just One Damned Thing after Another. So far am thoroughly enjoying it. Anyone read Deborah Moggach's 'Heartbreak Hotel'? Was toying with downloading it.

Happy Reading <3

Spell it out : the singular story of English spelling by David Crystal - recommended in the most recent Lost Cousins Newsletter.

Well, I shall be soon, it is on reservation in the library.
