Hi gang
and welcome to the new people. Sorry Carole if I have been AWOL !! Did my usual stint yesterday at the FHS and again it was dead .I was soaked by the time I got there and sitting about all day wet didn't cheer me up . I am having to take son to the hospital every day to get his wound dressed so that is forcing me to drive which is not a bad thing .It does upset my stomach though but just nerves I am sure . Mary reading your story about your mum's funeral made me smile and reminded me of .On the day I went to scatter my partners ashes his elderly brother who is autistic came with me.It was a very cold windy day so he was wearing a long black nap coat .When we got to the place I checked wind direction I scattered some then being a bit upset I handed the urn to him and turned away .I heard Ian saying good bye to his brother and that he would miss him .You guessed it when I turned round the bottom part of his coat was covered .So he landed up taking his brother home after all as I didn't have the heart to say any thing .It lightened a sad day and I knew George would see the funny side if watching from above . Will have to go to bed early tonight as 1 hour less sleep and got to be at hospital again in the morning. Hope every one is having a good day
love Kathy xxx

Eileen I love your story. I had an experience at my mother's burial 7 years ago which still makes me chuckle. We had about a 2 hour drive to the burial ground. I should also mention this was several weeks after the funeral, as the ground was frozen, and cremation had taken place at time of death. When we arrived at the burial ground, the funeral parlour man with the urn was not there yet. We waited and waited, and all of a sudden there's a police car with lights flashing entering the property. What in the world???? In the front seat with the policeman, was the peculiar little man from the funeral parlour, solemnly holding the urn in his lap! Seems the funeral fellow's car had a flat tyre and he flagged down a police car to help bring my mother to her grave!! I couldn't stop laughing, to think my mother's last ride on this earth was in a police car!! She would have definitely seen the humour in the situation!! Now if my brother would have only let me bury her ashes in a teapot, the scene would have been complete. She did love her tea. No disrespect intended. Whenever I can, I try to see the humour in a bad situation, it helps me cope, and lightens the heaviness of a crisis. (That's on a good day). I am on a roll this morning so will drop in later, I was thinking what a scene it would be if we were all together in one place - as Carole mentioned in her first post, kind of an AA meeting "Anti-depressant Aunties". I think the Vitamin B has finally kicked in, I have energy to burn this morning, and all the children are gone for the day, I have 6 hours to myself!!! Hugs to all, Mary

You are having a bad day aren't you Mildred?
Chin up, and try to ignore the bad bots. We all have things which we need to talk about don't we?
Make yourself a nice pot of tea love, and put your feet up for a while. Wont change your worries, but it will relax you.
Best wishes, Deanna XX

I'm having a bad day today so far, feel very vunerable & low
Not helped by constantly reading threads on a particular subject which makes me fear for my kids lives in the future.
I want to enjoy them, not worry constantly about things which may never be.
sorry folks :o((((

Carole I am fine thank you... hope you are too. Have just reread some bits, and it can be frightening to come on here for the first time. NOT because we are frightening, but it does take courage to tell people our inner most fears. there is always the chance that they will not understand and think less of us....
BUT.... we are all the same here, it is like a normal *SELF HELP GROUP* except for the fact that we are Cyber friends. ;-0)
Ann G.... the tablets are so good, I feel so much better these days. I think having had that 'bad' day I have even been able to accept that my days will not ALL BE GOOD. So I can be *athletic* on all my good days, and be an invalid on the days when I am not so good. It is just lovely to be able to do the smallest thing... without gasping for breath. LUXURY!
Ben where are you? Has no one seen him then?
I hope Eleanor is still about so nice to be able to come on here and chat. When I feel good it is a nice chat, and on a bad day it is someone to cry to. Thanks for starting it Carole.
Joyce P, I was happy to see you on here. Look after yourself and we can have a giggle when you are fit enough.
Have a lovely day everyone.... I am going out. We are taking a friend out for a birthday lunch.
Bye all Deanna XX

Good morning Kath, how awful for your daughter at 22 to be feeling so low. I certainly think she has depression. Best help is to see her doctor, if she won't go for this, could you go in with her about her son, and say while we are here I am worried about my daughter!! Once he see's she isn't coping very well he can prescribe anti depressants, and she will start to cope better, to be able to deal with her son's problems. As for her boyfriend leave them to sort out their problems. I know it's hard but you could end up being the one who is pushed out. Just let her know you are there if she needs your support and hug's. At 22 she is still young and (my son is 22) maybe not mature. She has a lot to deal with so will need you. Let us know if she agrees to see her doctor xx

Hello Kath, and welcome. Your daughter sounds as if she is hurting badly, and it must be so hard to stand by and not be able to do anything to help. Your daughter has had some bad things thrown at her all together and she won't be able to make sense of them. It sounds like she is depressed but won't be able to see that for herself. My depression started with a lot being thrown at me all at once, different situation but all basically the same result in the end. Do you think you could get her to see her doctor, maybe go with her for backup. Is she still seeing her ex? I was thinking it might be wise to stay away from him for the time being. Her little boy sounds as if he is ok and being looked after, but your daughter won't be able to sort things in her head until she can come to grips with herself a bit. She will be able to do that if she can be persuaded to see her doctor. I'm sorry I can't be much help but maybe someone on here will be along later who has more experience. Keep in touch with us won't you.
Caz xx

Can anyone give me any advice on how to help my daughter , who I really believe is suffering from depression.
She is 22 and has a 16 month old baby. He was recently diagnosed with hemiplegic cerebral palsy, and added to that her relationship with his father has broken down because of his 'playing around'!
She has no appetite, so consequently isn't eating much, and so weight is falling off her.
She snaps at everyone, is incredibly moody, and quite tearful at times.
The one thing that is really worrying me now is that she doesn't seem interested in her little boy, luckily they live with me, so I help a lot, but over the last week or so she seems to want to leave him with different members of family (if I am in work) and "chill".
I know she adores her son, but don't think she's really accepted his diagnosis, and I really believe she blames heresself for his condition, which of course is rubbish, but how can she be convinced of this?
She doesn't have many friends as she stopped socialising with them when she got together with her sons dad. He appears to be controlling her even now, when the relationship is all but over, and he's seeing someone else.
I've tried talking about everything to her, but she won't or doesn't want to listen to me.
Any advice would be gratefully recieved as I don't know where to go to get her help
Thanks Kath

Eileen my grandmother had a stroke and after her husband died grandma lived a week at my aunts house sleeping on their sofa then after bingo on a Wednesday night my parents took her home with them for a week on their sofa as my sister and I were still at home, all in a two bedroom bungalow. Each Wednesday after bingo grandma would go home with aunt or my mum for a week. This wasn't a good arangement my aunt had a comode at the side of her dinner table as she lived in a very small house and there was nowhere else to put it!! So mum went to see her mums doctor after a few months of this,to see if they could get her into a nursing home. My mum feels guilty to this day. And now nurses my dad who is paralised and has no speech after a stroke four and a half years ago. Dad (79 today) went into hospital Tuesday night after having really bad pain in his sciatic nerve. So mum will have a bit of a break. But dad not being able to comunicate will feel like your aunty. You might be able to give me some advice how to help him. xx
Gill pleased you left the thread with dignity and didn't stoop so low as the ones who are upsetting you. I haven't seen it, don't do much thread hopping!! xx
Eleanor are you looking in? xx
Ben where are you?
Debbie haven't seen you
All on the naughty step!! A minuite for every year of your life !! I told you the search party would be out xxx
