Liz and Ann I did feel a bit silly when I fell ok now just a bit of swelling scrapes and bruising. Looks like you have been busy Liz gardening. Its lovely up your way. I used to love going to Norwich Castle when I was a kid and we went visiting my Dads Aunty, Uncle and cousin. Ann I bet your hanging baskets are lovely. Hope your both are ok. Sorry to hear Caz your toes painful, and your not very well. Gail sorry to hear about your cat, I have a cat and dog and they are part of your family. In fact I treat mine like my kids. So I can imagine how upseting it is for you. waveyone, Somedays I feel like that,so on that day I do a bit. Yesterday Worked really hard doing volentary work all day. Today as I didnt sleep last night because ran out of aniexty tablets my mind works overtime and dont switch off. So today my daugher has to do a model of a castle for school so I made a start for her so she had an idea, I have made a port and cullis a draw bridge, toliet roll tubes for little turrets and towers. cut bits off a coloured kite made flag and bunting. Not finished need painting and more work. But tired me out so I went to bed and had a couple of hours at dinner time. But dont worry love it takes time. love to mary, Deana and Carol. love to all and anyone else I forgot to mention

Hi Waveyone, I have the same problem some days. I've learned to set myself a goal of 15 minutes, then allow myself a break. Some days when I want to watch TV because I really can't be bothered, I do "commercial cleaning" - getting out of the chair when the commercials (adverts) are on.
if I do nothing else, I make my bed and keep my sink clean. It makes me feel better to see a made bed when I enter my bedroom after the day. And if the kitchen sink is clean it makes me want to keep the area around it clean.
If you're sitting anyway, use the 15 minutes to sort papers on the table in the lounge.
I bought a quart jug with lid, which I fill with water daily and drink through the straw when I'm "hungry". granted I make lots of trips to the toilet in the night, but it reduces my urge to snack on something inappropriate. I do the same thing at work, the environment is very dry and I go through at least one jug a shift, often two.
Hope this is some help,
Hugs
Mary

Hi there wavey, I usually try to keep my brain busy, doing family tree, puzzles, walks around the garden, bird watching.

Motivation is difficult at times, sometimes even getting out of bed is a challenge. It is best to set small goals, to start with.

Just an example:

Today walk for 10 minutes.

Tomorrow walk for 15 minutes.

This method works for me. If have trouble then cut the 15 minutes down to 7 or 8.

Do not set your goals too high, small steps at a time.

Hope you can understand this.

Gail

Hello everybody and thanks for all your PMs......Wanted to ask you all a question. How do you motivate yourself? I spend most of the day watching tele because I lack the enthusiasim(spelling) to do anything. i do have a dog but he is getting on a bit so dose'nt need so much walking, sometimes I dont see anyone from one day to a next... then I eat because I fed up, then i fed up because I'm fat...Its just a circle.....

Hi every one, hope you are all okay.

Have been going through a very rough patch just now.

To top it off my lovely cat Tont has been diagnosed with kidney problems and does not have very long, all we can do is make him more comfortable and we would know when it is time. (cannot put it in words). I have been trying to get a worming pill into him as usuall evey 3 months, he has lost some weight, though eating more, not grooming as much thought it was a worming problem. He is 15 years, but was not expecting that I would lose him just yet. Will have to make the most of his time left with us.

Morning all, I know I have been missing but I will be missing for a few more days yet. Had to visit chemo room yesterday with my feet, turns out my big toe is infected, my soles are blistered and sore again. Nearly thumped the doctor when he cleaned the oozing from toe it was so painful. Anyway the outcome is I have to stay in bed a few day with my feet up. The doctor wnted to take the lump off toe to send to lab, instead he gave me anti-biotics and co-codamol. they will see how it is when I have my usual appointment on Wednesday. Hubby having to have time off work again. Still thinking of you all.

Hi Betty, it is o.h.'s garden but I have helped him redesign it, it was very boring lol and now he has a greenhouse, and a grass garden in one corner with a hazelnut tree in the middle which I bought him. Most of the plants are in pots and tubs and I would say more than 50% are mine so I can take them when I go. There is a hedge at the bottom of the garden from berberis, escallonia and mahonia which he put in after he had a breakin. No one could get over or through the hedge so he feels more secure, also he has put up security lights which come on depending which bit of garden you are in. It isn't a very big garden but there is a field beyond which is sometimes wheat, sometimes potatoes, so nice and bright, not overlooked except by next door house bedroom window or over the newish fence. He has a eucalyptus tree in a tub which we bought as a tiny sapling from a garden sale and now it is about 10 feet tall, and we had a lovely mimosa tree in a tub, grown from seedlings brought back from the British Cemetery in Kefalonia. Sadly this year he kept putting off covering it with fleece and it has died, altho I am keeping it there to see if it will recover, but don't think so.
The thing I will miss most when I leave here is the garden and the greenhouse, but will soon get my own garden back up to scratch and find room for all these pots and tubs lol

shaz, hurt your knees and your dignity!! Sorry to hear about your fall, you certainly had a good day though.

Liz, you did well, all that gardening, my OH kept going out to do things and kept getting rained off, still he has done a lot this week and the garden is looking good, lots of things flowering out there now so it is really spring!!!! I see you like clematis, we do too and have quite a few. Keep losing them though for no apparent reason, they flower well one year then the next year they have gone!!! Hope your back is better tomorrow than mine was on Sunday after doing the baskets!!

It's getting chilly again Rach, was nice while I was out in the garden for a while, tidied up lots of my pots, and found things flourishing where I hadn't thought they were, if you know what I mean. I have a lovely fritillary ready to flower and some other things coming up, roses in bud and little violas/violets everywhere, they are running riot but so pretty with their purpleyblue faces so I have left them in almost every pot they have moved to. I think I might have earned brownie points for doing the tidying on one side of the garden, there is a row of paving slabs, was the path, how boring alongside the garage but under clematis so you can't walk on it as clematis would get knocked so I have lots of pots and tubs down there. It is now all swept and tidied and dead bits of stuff cut away so clematis and passion flower can run rampant this summer. I think my Dad's green fingers have moved to my hands, thanks Dad.
Got my washing almost dry too so very pleased, just going to eat.
Oh and counsellor rang so seeing her next week, day after my eye test. Am getting all my health checks done, dentist the week after, should be fighting fit lol
Shaz, I am sorry you hurt your knees and your dignity, I have done that and you want to scream and yell cos it hurts but you don't want to draw attention to yourself either lol
Hope you heal up soon.
Great you had such fun with the oldies, I miss mine in the sheltered housing place I used to visit. Some of them would have a chinwag in the entrance hall and they loved it if I stopped off and chatted with them. Well done for raising money and take care.

Hi all, thanks for good wishes, will try to do a bit more sorting out today. Just trying to get hold of my counsellor as I had to cancel last week's session on the day. She is going to ring me in a little while so hope I can sort out next session, maybe for this week if not next week, but so far they haven't flowed well (is that english lol?) what with her being ill and me cancelling etc

Gail, so glad baby girl is here safely even if she was a bit of a problem arriving. Hope her Mum is feeling better now and little one thrives.

Janet, Deanna, anyone, don't hide away if you are down, we can cope with your highs and lows as others do with ours!
I think Y.Caz might be feeling unwell with a cold/flu type illness and I am sure she will be back when she is better.

Ann, I haven't slept at night and been up early for about 4 years, the tiredness is connected to my fm and cfs, but when I go away and don't have access to a computer I do go to bed a bit earlier, mainly as I have a bed and room to myself lol

Brightening up outside so might go and do some stuff in the garden, tidying my pots and things, before it rains again.

Janet, don't stay away because you feel others problems are worse than yours. To you they are not, our own problems are always the worst because they are ours.

Deanna, So pleased to see you, didn't like to PM as i was not sure if you were too poorly to be on line. Hope you are on the mend now and raring to go. This thread was just not the same without you.

Still worried about not seeing Joyce Justice...... And hope we will see Y caz again soon too.

Scooby's Report 29 Apr 2008 12:46

Hi everyone
am still reading the threads but not too good at the moment and others are feeling so much worse than I am that I feel I would rather stay off for a while.
I wanted to say though that I worked in a charity shop and people would donate their loved ones belongings. Some did it straight away and some would come in and I would ask how long the person had been dead, sometimes it was as much as 5/10 year and that person had not been able to move the clothes. Others phoned to ask if we would pick up the belongings and then when we got there thery still could not part with them.
It just shows that everyone has to deal with death at their own pace, there is no right or wrong length of time for people to grieve.
Much love to all
Janet
