Tomorrow is Steve and I's 30th wedding anniversary. Hayley said I would have got out sooner if I had killed him. (Still chance) ! We are both at work, and I don't know what time I'll get home so no plans to do anything.

Had the kids here quite a bit this weekend so it's been nice.

Lousy weather!

Mary just one dog did a good job of killing off plants and grass in our garden. No wonder you have given up !!

Justice of Peace Report 18 Jul 2011 06:28

Mary, mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow! not so much out in the back one it would appear and no wonder with such a big family and dog's also, I love reading your lovely stories which conjure up magical visions of how life was like when my children were small, so happy days they were and still are in my memory xx Not only did my three little ones play in our veranda and large garden but all their pals used to come a knocking, requesting to be allowed to join in the fun. On a sunny day out came the canvas paddling pool and hose pipe, along with plastic table and chairs and numerours toys, the boy's made a tent over the swing frame and all was well in the world, except when they became hungry and they all congregated at the kitchen door asking for food, drinks and sweeties...there was no need for neighbours to question where their children were, it was a case of follow the noise or screams, depending on how the day went...if the day turned out to be a wet one they all played in the large veranda where most of their toys were housed. An hour before my husband was due in from work I would send the additional family home, bathe my three and have them watching their favourite childrens TV programmes prior to us all sitting down to our supper. Throughout my childrens lives they have always prefered to entertain their friends at home and not gather on street corners, just wish that same lifestyle could apply to some of today's generation, sad I think....
As for ideas for recipes, well here is a tried and tested one I have used throughout the ages and still use today, tis called a ' macaroni mess', as follows:.... Macaroni (small pieces) 150 grams, Tuna in brine (large tin or 4 x185g tine), bunch of spring onions, add salad cream or mayonnaise to taste......Preparation: whilst cooking macaroni open up tin/s of tuna and drain, chop up spring onions....once macaroni is cooked rinse in cold water, add tuna and spring onions then add salad cream, stirring gently, a meal in itself being carbs, fish and green vegetable..you can add corn on the cob, bits of pineapple, small tomatoes or even little pieces of cheese, in fact whatever takes your fancy or what leftovers you have in the fridge...try it lass and hope you enjoy it xxx....An easy 'sweet' I used to do for the kids when it was hot, as follows: Banana's which are ripe but not brown...peel banana's, halve and wrap in cling foil, place in freezer for a few hours and you end up with a banana lolly, lovely xxx
As for my garden Mary, with so much rain we have been having lately it has turned into a mini jungle! the potted geraniums are overflowing, the scented stock have grown to twice their size, the corguette's! plants which earlier died on me are sprouting like mad and will harvest well but for some reason the tomato plants are not doing too well, only a few flowers have appeared to date! my pride of place though being two japanese maple trees I planted this year which have taken and doing well, I look forward to their golden colour during the winter months.. and so the seasons change, as does our lives.....
Toby pleased to say is still a blessing for me even though he disappears more frequently up to Coventry to run with his mates, the Cleveland bays. This year and for the first time he spotted rabbits and took off at a speed of knots, followed by the nosey horses, as luck would have it my daughter stopped him before he vanished through a distant hedge!
Am so pleased you are enjoying your double bed lass but can envisage some of your tribe clambering to climb in alongside you, all in good fun though xx Am away now to get washed and dressed and inspect my 'jungle' to make sure no lions have taken up residence, fox's yes which are rife in my neck of the woods and so desperate for food to feed their cubs, I love nature....
To all my other friends out there I send you my love and best wishes and hope you are keeping a little better, hope to hear from you soon.....
Love, Joyce.P xxxxxxxxx

Well folks, the documents I was waiting for have arrived, and killed this part of my search for my great-grandfather. So disappointing, BUT additional documents reveal that his brother may also be a candidate, as he took over the family property on the early death of the first brother. Right place, right time. To top it off, he gave his first child the female form of my grandfather's name. Is it coincidence?? So here we go again. Another document ordered.
I am also now adding another focus, this time in NI, chasing my Dobbin line. lots of family info but so little verified.
Trying to survive this heat wave, just cannot go outdoors, immediate sore joints and headache, not pleasant. the humidex today is supposed to be 46 degrees Celsius(114 deg F). Absolutely horrible between the heat and the humidity.
have a good day.

Tinkers look back over the last month, have you had more or less good days than the month or two earlier?

I've had migraine today, woke up this morning with headache which got worse after my shower. I felt so sick I went back to bed after nothing to eat or drink but two tablets. Two pm when I woke again, feeling a bit better but fell asleep again. Steve went out and brought us some kebab back to eat I was starving by now! Still feel light headed but the sickness has gone.

Carolina's birthday today, Happy birthday to her xx :-D

Tinkers that is great. You have done well.

Still got head ache, have to go out to post office and Dr's to put in repeat prescription. It's my friends 50th birthday today so have a present and card to take. Tomorrow we are all going out for a meal on The Barge, a floating resturant here in Lincoln. Bit pricey but I'm told very nice. I'd rather have a two for one! But not up to us. Sure it will be nice just hope my head ache had gone.

Had a lovely meal out Saturday. I had lamb shank and veg. Steve had chicken a la creme.
Expensive for us but nice to try a new place to eat. Would have to be a special occasion to go again. Or day time which is a lot cheaper.

Well last night I didn't get in from work till 8pm! I was knackerd. Twelve hour day! First one member of team called in sick, next there was a diversion, the computer wouldn't start, then the shop was over stocked. Glad this doesn't happen very often. Home at 4;30 today.

We googled ink on carpet removel (you'll remember I got printer ink on the carpet) it said WD40 then warm soapy water. Steve had a go tonight and mostly come out. Will have another go.

Yes Ann, I asked her if she wanted to sit out in the garden or inside. Inside she said, I'm a bit cold. Will see her again in October at her condo in Bradenton. Will be a bit warmer I hope!

I started to fill in a survey on FB about two weeks ago, but changed my mind about it and closed it down. This morning I got phone call, to do with a survey I had entered to win £1000, I'd forgot the FB one. I questioned the caller and he told me in pigeon English it could have been on a survey to obtain entry to another site, penny dropped and so did the phone call (e-on) How stupid I was to fall for that one. Hadn't even submited the full survey!

Bbq tonight hope it stays warm enough to stay outside. Hate being cold.

I am home after a week away, back to whatever state of normal one can consider my life. Had a break at a friend`s cottage, while the rest of the family stayed at a camp nearby. I needed some time off. Strange for me to be feeling down this time of year but there it goes. Hope everyone is well. It has been so hot lately that we all feel wiped out. I hate this weather.
Taking a high dose vitamin B med to try and boost energy levels, hope it will eventually be effective.
Tired of being tired.
Happy summer those who are also dealing with warm temps.
