Yesterday as you know I went with close family and friends to the Kent Air Ambulance Centre and now Surrey too, to personally say thank you to the paramedics, doctors and all in the team who do so much outstanding work and give their time and expertise to help those injured. I extend my gratitude to GR members on and off the boards, (please pass on this message for me to those you know on other sites who I know donated….thank you) and many other members of a variety of sites, family and friends who donated and care so much and support me at this time.
I presented the Kent Air Ambulance Trust with monies collected from members of key web sites so close to both myself and my son Richard. Although it was unfortunate that the GR member who wanted to go could not be present due to illness in the family, I represented you all and was proud to do so. The total amount without online donations came to £2,445.00 and will be so much appreciated for such a good cause. I would think that with all the on line donations made, it must have reached the £3,000.00 mark…well done to you all.

We got to the centre for 2.00, we were greeted by Liz a volunteer there for sometime. Liz told us that the helicopter had been called out on a shout and would return soon. In the meantime we chattered generally and with coffee and tea we talked about what sterling work the Air Ambulance do, how it was founded and how monies are raised.
I spoke to Liz about how the money collected today was raised and the key sites, she told me whilst we were going to be shown about the helicopter, she would make out a board cheque that would go with a photo to be taken.

The helicopter arrived, sheep scattered, and if you have never seen a helicopter close believe me they are so majestic, big and beautiful. It was refuelled in case the team were called out again quickly. The Paramedic team then joined us; Liz left us whilst the team members talked to us about what it was like working day to day, they are so dedicated. We were then given the opportunity to get close to the helicopter, look inside and realise how much has to be carried in such a small area, yet somehow all what you would find in any A&E department was there.

We then had our picture taken holding the cheque board and whilst waiting for copies concluded our visit, still chattering. The hospitality and caring shown demonstrates their love for their work, their commitment to helping the injured and brings tears to my eyes.

I am waiting for a reply from GR re photos so please bear with me..I will update

I know Richard was with me in spirit and I feel so proud of what has been achieved by so many and as proud of him as any mother of their son.

Thank you all
