Did the first wife actually die? If she didn't actually die then that would explain why you can't find a marriage. |

in the 1841 census he was with his first wife Mary and their is no sign of him in the 1851 census ... Elizabeth and John do not appear to have had any residence until 1861 and then they had a house on wharf street in sowerby bridge ....... |
