........................................................keeps being told that she's too thin by friends and last night by her friends step mum.
In fact the stepmum said she looked like she needs a good feed!!!!!!

my daughter is now getting worried that there is something wrong with her but we've told her that if we were worried we would take her to the doctors.
shes 13 and eats like a horse and has just got taller........aren't some people thoughtless when they say things to kids.................if she'd have put on weight i bet she wouldn't have said she could do with cutting down on food!!!!!

rant over......sorry

why don't people mind their own business - always so keen to stick their oar in - I was skinny as a beanpole for years - wish I was now!!

As a taller than average and slim person myself I really sympathise with her.

It's as rude as telling someone they are too fat!!

I have had remarks like this all my life................though now middle age is helping me gain weight at last :)

It's a shame that children have to grow up but I think it is probably time to explain that there are adults who only have stock conversations, which were learned at their grandparents's knees.

If she was plump the woman would probably called her fine and bonny and a strapping lass!

She just needs to smile and nod and realise that the woman probably was only noticing the difference in build between her and her friends rather than her physical condition.

My cousin had this problem and my aunt sat her down and explained about metabolic rate and nutrition and BMI but she was about 16 at the time.

It takes all sorts doesn't it? Thank goodness she will communicate with you though - I have heard that they stop when they turn 13 and the girl children only roll their eyes whilst the boy ones grunt!

My daughter was the same Karen, don't worry, you know she is healthy.

My daughter is now 16 years old and 6'1" tall and slim. She also had these comments from others, but chose to look them up and down very slowly and move on. It used to make us smile.. she was in control.

i felt really insulted by her saying she needed a good feed.....as if we don't feed her!!
If she saw my youngest daughter she think we starve her....shes very skinny.......unfortunately they don't get it from me...lol

My mother used to tell me that my daughter and her twin brother where far to skinny and that I should make them eat a proper meal,
Well now fast approaching 25 and the pair of them are still slim daughter 5.3 and a size 6/8 and son 6.1 and wieghts approx 10 stone both are fit and healthy.

so long as they had 3 good meals aday I turned a deaf ear, they where alway happy, and used to go to the veggie garden and pinch carrots apples and what ever they could find if they wanted to.
So tell every one to but out you know your daughter not them.

Problem is, nowadays overweight children seem the norm!! You are supposed to see their ribcage!!
A woman outside the school commented that my grand daughter looked small for her age and was too skinny.
This stupid woman didnt realise my grand daughter is only 5 - she thought she was 8!!
Daughter retorted - Too fat and too tall is she now? and walked off LOL

i think the thing is that she used to be a bit chubby....even though she danced for 5 hours a week...now shes just grown up into the shape that shes meant to be....shes 5ft 6 and a size 8.

I think you right though Maggie that people are used to seeing overweight children now......i was even smaller that my daughter when i was that age but nobody ever said i was too thin( oh to have those days back....lol)

The trouble with thoughtless people making comments about childrens' weights is that it can set up an eating problem.........because of this my niece has had an eating problem most of her adult life......I wish they would keep their stupid opinions to themselves.....

Have to admit I was called 'maggot' at school cos I was so skinny. (4'8", and weighed 4 stone 8 at 11)

I am only 5'3 and finally reached the magical size 8 at about 17 and remained 7 stone until I was in my late 20's (even after 2 children!!) so I must have been 'emaciated', even though, like your daughter Karen, I ate like a horse.
Unfortunately since my late 40s I've put on weight, now weigh 9 stone 8 and am a size 12 :o(

I haven't posted for ages but had to on this one. I used to get this ( sadly not anymore:-() Also my daughter who is about 8 and half stone and about 5ft 10. Tell her not to take any notice. It only jealousy.
I remember when she was about 6 they had one of these check ups at scool the stupid doctor told me she was too thin so I panicked and took her to my own doctor. He said is she poorly "no" well forget it bring herback when she is. This girl was never poorly, never off school only illness she has was chicken pox when she was about 15. Tell her it is great when she can eat what she wants and not worry about it.
Also had a SIL who used to take great delight in passing comment about our weight so sad to be so jealous. Won't go into that one.
Oh just remembered a man once told me when they start tell them they only breed lean thoroughbreds.
Give her a hug.

I was teased mercilessly at school for being thin. I can still remember a gang of classmates taunting me at primary school with "Your mum doesn't feed you" all of them shouting it together. Then at secondary school I was bullied and called names because of my thiness.

I am now 58, 5"4" and weigh less than 7 and a half stone, and still people think it's OK to make nasty comments. One friend, when I told her I had to have a mastectomy, said "Oh what a shame, and you are so skinny your boobs are the only shape you have"!!!

It's not only large people who get comments!

I hope your daughter can rise above these remarks and be happy with how she looks! I am.

Karen

Does it bother her, and the reason i ask is, before i had my children i was 8½ stone & 5' 10, and could eat you out of house & home

I just thought those that said anything were just Jealous... and would tell them at least i won't be tucking my boobs in my knickers when i get older

I tried drinking Build ups nothing work, and even now im only about 10½ stone
