I knitted one for my son 25 years ago, was very easy and I would use it when he was in the pushchair - not a buggy one - so he stayed warm. Then in the winter I made another one so I could use them at night, used to put a cardi over the top so he couldn't undo the straps, they were velcro! I put a zip across the bottom so I culd change his nappy easily. I also knitted him a dressing gown by knitting from a cardigan pattern but omitting the rib at the bottom, did st st for an inch then a row of knit then stocking st again, the garter stitch line was the bottom where I turned it up to make a hem, and just knitted the cardigan straight up to the required length and fnished it off as usual. Buttons up the front and a sewn on motif and he loved it!

I use these http://www.gro-group.co.uk/grobag/brands/babysleepingbags/

They zip from the top down.

My son is 25 months and they have sizes up to 6 years. Stops him climbing out of the cot too.

I'm a bit out of touch but grandson now 12 had a fleece suit, which had arms and legs, and neck to waist zip.
It was useful when he stayed in a caravan at a chilly time.He was a toddler at the time.

Gwyn, my lad had one of those too I think, when he was quite small. Probably still got it, I know I have the 'sleeping bags' somewhere.

Mine wore nighties initially, then babygro's when they could throw off their covers - which was rare as they had sheets & blankets as they are more controllable than duvets.
When they were old enough to walk, they wore fleece sleepsuits.

Jamie sleeps with a fleece all-in-one or romper suit over his pj's. He wakes up in the night so would fall over is he was in a grobag. They are good until baby is walking tho. I normally buy the cheap ones in Primark, they are lovely and toastie and they have some great designs for next to nothing. We bought him a special 'Bob' one for xmas tho and it cost us €18...... Normally I pay €6...

love Theresa
