Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 3 Jan 2008 20:10

but some companies don't like their vehicles parked overnight in residential areas you could try contacting the owners & see what they say.
we had a neighbour who was a long distance driver & he had to make early starts but it wasnt poss for him to go to the depot to collect the vehicle so he would collect and park overnight in our street , loads of neighbours complained to his company & he was stopped from doing it.He had to make alternative arrangements to collect his lorry from the depot. wasnt that convenient for him but didn't disturb his neighbours anymore.

Ok,

I have just realised I may be annoying some peeps with my question. It wasnt meant to upset any legit HGV drivers who need to park where they do.

Please don't take offence, as it was someone with an HGV who I needed advice from as they will know the laws better than I.......If there is something I can do about it I will...if not I suppose I am going to have to put up with it :-)

I think what really annoys me is the fact the driver has ample space outside their own home which would also be a lot less awkwardly parked than where he has done so.

I don't want to say what it is carrying as one never knows who is looking in and I don't want to start a neighbour war if I can settle the matter amicably.....which is why I needed advice :-)

I would go with parking your own vehicle in the space for a few days until he gets the message!

his wife probably won't let him park at his home for the same reasons you don't want him by yours!!

Susan719813 Report 3 Jan 2008 19:49

I can Understand that Kay :-) but surely he can go and park outside his own house, Plenty of room where he lives.

if the vehicle is legal ,and road worthy, and not obstructing any other road user,,,,,,,,,,,,,there is nothing you or the police or highways can do about it,,,,,,,,,,,just asked OH parking rules who is HGV,,,

,only if he is carrying..toxic waste,,highly inflamables,or stuff which is covered by the health and safety laws,, he will not be allowed to park in a residential area or within a certain distance,,,,,,,but he will know this anyway or should do,,,!!,,,,,,,,,,,

,,,,,,the only thing you can do is ask the driver politly if there is another area he can find to park in,,,,,,,,

you maybe residential,,but unless you have paid for the road way to be layed to your house,, ,there is nothing you can do,,,,,,,,,,

I would love to do that Grannie :-)....we are the sort who think about others though.....I am sure if we put one foot wrong everyone would be up in arms.....

.I wonder if my other neighbours or the council would care more if more of them came and used the road as a lorry park.

I hope there is somethng to be done about it Jax cos I am so angry......havent been this angry in years.

trouble is Lindsey, it isnt obscuring a neighbours house....They have a higher wall than mine and cant see it......that was the beauty of living where I do.....But now with this eyesore it makes the area look so scruffy.....would never sell my house if buyers thought it could be used in this way....There must be something I can do...apart from park my own car there so's he has to go elsewhere.

Hya Hayley :-),

Yes it has got a number on it, but before we do that I just wondered what the laws against it were first.....I have never been so angry....dont want the road to become a Lorry park.....bet their neighbours wouldn't like it parked right beside their house....they don't live along the road either.

We had a problem with this Susan as long as its not illegally parked there is not alot you can do apart from complain to the company. The one parked in our street used to leave it running for 20 minutes every morning and every night and the fumes were terrible we couldnt leave our windows open. We tried the police, highway department of the council but in the end it was us calling the company who the vehicle belonged to and explaining the situation before we got any joy.

Good luck.

Write a really nice letter, asking him not to park there {as you are a member of the neighbourhood watch....lie} and it obscures your view of a neighbours house you are looking after !
Then slap it on his windscreen, hopefully it will freeze overnight and will take him ages to scrape it off. That will put him off parking outside your place again.

Where does one go to to complain about a tanker being parked in a residential area overnight?.

Council say they don’t deal with it.

Police don’t know

Isn’t it against the Law to use a tanker to go to and from work then park it overnight in a private residential area?

How does one stop this…only two houses immediately affected so difficult to get up a petition. Eyesore from window…..Parked near a bend but not on it.

Does any-one know the laws about this type of parking? And what can be done about it?
