my grandmas yorkshires used to be solid like cup cakes, only not sweet, we used to eat them though. We would not dare to leave food in my nans. LOL

She never measured anything, but she did make nice pikelets, with melted butter mmmmmm

Back in my far distant youth used SR flour and as my brother said my puds were 10 feet high and still rising!!!

Mind you they still ate them!

I don't blunder anymore! A while back a GR expert on Yorkshire Pud making put up a recipe that is absolutely idiot proof. Here it is:-

1 cup of eggs
1 cup of plain flour
1 cup of water
pinch of salt

mix well then let it stand fo a while
pre-heat some oil/fat in a dish, on the hottest oven setting, until it is smoking hot, pour in the batter and bake until well risen and golden. Do not open oven door while it is cooking. Serve immediately.

It doesn't matter what size cup/mug you use, so long as the ingredients are of equal measure.

Even though I say it myself I can make really nice ones (well I think so) but being lazy last time I used Aunt Bessie -what a disaster they were hard and greasy and totally uneatable!

My son and his wife made a lovely xmas dinner for 8 of us.
Later on that night when we got home my hubby asked me if I have seen yorkshire pudding's as he never had any.

The next day they told us at 11pm that night they remembered about them lol
Oven was off but there they were lol

a couple of years ago, i decided to try making my own, what ever i did to that mixture but they came out hard and with a dip in the middle, luckily i had some jam so i let them cool, and put jam in and told kids id made jam tarts, only thing is they asked for them again lol.
