Dont panic if your little one turns out to have diabetes. As many diabetics will tell you, it is an extremely healthy diet. A bit harder to manage in a youngster, bur you would be surprised how quickly they learn. My OH has been on insulin for42 yrs and has better blood test results than our GP, with a Cholesterol reading of 3.He is also very active . Jean

Hi Carol

I do not post very much on these boards but need to add my comment this time

My daughter when she was 16 years old was diagnosed as Type 1 diabetic eighteen months ago. She was drinking lots of water, running to the loo constantly and always falling asleep even during the day These are classic signs of a diabetic.

If this sounds like your daugther's symptoms then please contact NHS 24 as soon as possible. They really wont mind - especially when it is a child.

I do not want to alarm you but having been through it myself get her checked sooner rather than later.

Best wishes and thinking of you

Diana

Hi Carol, do you know anybody who is diabetic who might test her urine for her? Most diabetics have urine testing strips at home, which when positive change colour.

Perhaps if you know somebody they could check it for you and put your mind at rest today? I am sure you will be concerned over the weeked and at least if it shows any sugar present you could take her to the out of hours doctor today.

Good luck.
