Lindy - she asked how to use the washing machine??? My 24 year old doesn't want to know!!!
the drawers have broken in her chest of drawers. She doesn't want me in her room to fix it, so I suggested swapping it ofr one in the other bedroom - last year - still she hasn't done anything.
The radiator doesn't work in her bedroom, can I go in? No. all she does is moan about how cold it is - but won't let me (or a plumber) look!!!
She quite often (thank goodness) stays at her boyfriends parents house, then complains because she's living in 2 houses, and boyfriends parents cook for them (I don't) - she moans about that to!!
She and her boyfriend are saving to buy a house - I pray the prices fall soon so they can afford one!!!

Even her elder sister is amazed at the mess she makes and how little she does!!
Quite funny actually as I charge them a pittance to cover heating, breakages (b/f is very clumsy) wear & tear etc, . Youngest complained to eldest who phoned me and asked if i was charging a bit too much - when I told her how much - she said it wasn't enough LOL

It's heaven in my house, both kids have gone!! Sad to say though, I do miss them!!

I had 3 years alone when she was at uni - it was bliss!!

As she seems to think that she "Pays you for Housekeeping" Bill her for 5star Accomodation,i/e.Bed and Breakfast.All other services to be charged for,such as Laundry Service,Evening Meals Etc. **M**.

Hi, Merlin,

Now I feel I have to be totally honest with you!!! A couple of years ago, she got so fed up with me not doing her ironing that she took the iron and board to her room, where it still lives. I stand at the bottom of the stairs and give her a shout when I need something ironed!!!

As far as meals are concerned, we both work in hospitality, so about half of our meals are eaten at work. Sometime, she is off when I am working, so she has to microwave a pizza!!! (Sometimes, I'm off when she is working and I can eat all the things she doesn't like!!! Tee! Hee!)

Oh! Dear! That reminds me that we are both off on Christmas Day!!! She wants a proper Christmas Dinner at home!!! Except she doesn't like Brussel Sprouts, Bread Sauce, Stuffing, Christmas Pud or Mince Pies!!! I do like them all, so I'll have to make them anyway!!!

Oh! Well! Looks like I'll have to put up with her, for this year, now!!! (Maybe I could put her on e-bay!!!! Naw! No one with any sense would pay good money for her!!! Or if I offered enough cash for someone to take her away?????

Poor kid!!! I love her, really! She bought me a lovely new outfit for my Staff Party and it is really nice. But sometimes she has me tearing my hair out!! So if you see a little, chubby, bald woman, you'll know who it is!!!!

Still trying to rehome 29 years old son try what i did wrap his sarnies in a map,say u r going on hoiliday in a large van with the furniture in it,(tell her u cant be parted from the sofa even for a week)if that fails look up social services and swear u r ill treating her linda

Funny, isn't it. They try so hard to be independent when they're little/younger but we don't let them:

"don't cross the road without me"
"no, you can't make a cup of tea on your own"
"you're not going out dressed like that"
"you can't spend your money on that rubbish"

Independence stiffled. Then we do:

"can't you think for yourself"
"do you need me to do everything for you"

Then we moan about them:

.......examples a-plenty on this thread.....

And then they finally leave and, guess what:

"I never see you"
"Why don't you come round more often"
"I'm just a nuisance to you now, after everything I've done for you..........."

Haven't reached the last stage yet, but I bet I do!

When I used to live in Brisbane there was one guy that my friends and I would see regularly he seemed to have no-one and he was annoying everybody. It turned out that he used to live with his mother and she got so sick of him that when he went out one day she actually did pack up the house and move without telling him. So when he got home no-one was there and his stuff was at the front door.

Make her a manual on how to find and look after her own place. Or you could just try talking to her and saying "I think it's time you had your independence".

Maybe she doesn't know that you want her to leave.

When I went to uni, I was gone for 4 years, unfortunately when I returned my health was so bad the only option I had was moving back with my parents. That was three and half years ago. Everytime I talk about finding a flat, my mum talks about how I don't have to, they don't want me to move out... I finally put my name on the council waiting list because I'm so bad now I need a ground floor flat. My parents are now moving into a bungalow that my bro has bought for them, but if they could move me with them, I'm damn sure they would try.

So, my not moving out isn't for the want of trying.

Also, you could offer to help her with the deposit on a place and to go flat hunting with her. I think often it's the fear of the unknown but also not having the money to do it (or knowing you're better off at home).

As someone else said, if she treats it like a hotel, charge her hotel rates. At least I do what I can around our house.
