Great Grandad was iin HMS Recruit when it was wrecked off Cowes, he then transferred to HMS Havock and 2 days later that colided with HMS Starfish...he survived both incidents but couldn't understand why other sailors didn't want to be in the same ship as him! |

OH's g. gparents lost their youngest 1.11.1914 in battle off Chile he was 18 yrs. Their son-in-law 1.1.1915 off Portland Bill (his wife was pregnant with their first child). |

my great great grandparents George Rodney Johnson and Sarah Vlaughn lost four grandsons at one time on a schooner called the 'Bessie A. Crooks', which was lost on January 26th, 1917 in the Gulf of Pernambuco, Brazil |

Those stories are really sad, all of mine returned home.....Grandad in WW1, and three sons in WWII and one son-in-law all returned home safely, plus the 2 soldiers.... |
