On my way, Jan, on my way!
this is the last day of his holiday and he has spent three hours in b andq buying more bits and pieces and a steamer to get the old emulsion off the walls he is going to tile. The rest which are dark brown (cringe) he is going to paint over and the bottom half might be covered by moistureproof mdf tongue and groove panels, not sure yet. Now we have to chose the tiles, paint and floorcovering if he won't stain it, and get shower curtains, and poles. We need two as one side of the bath wall has a large window in it so easier to pull a curtain across than end up with wet window sill each shower time.
Might have it done by Christmas lol not sure which one tho!

Don't mind how much gets left so long as I can use the loo and the bath, and maybe the shower if it gets finished. He is just so pedantic about things and some things he won't deal with cos he says he wants to do it quickly, but they are the sort of things that you need to do early on in the job and then they are sorted! Even his son said when he was round last week, that he probably wouldn't finish it.
He has a pine firesurround that sits round the gas fire (he has had a new fire to go in which is still in it's box in the garage) and the firesurround has been just leaning against the wall for 10 yrs!
I finally got him to put a baton on the door frame of the main bedroom, in the autumn, so the door doesn't bang straight through the hole when it is windy. That job had been left since he did the bedroom before he met me, more than 11 years ago.Oh and if anything is wooden, he won't paint it, even if the wood colour doesn't tone in with the rest of the decor. When he had double glazing put in about 20 yrs ago, he had the aluminium and wood windows so every room has these orangey-tan stained surrounds to the metal windows, he won't put in central heating as he doesn't feel the cold, and so the only used heater is a gas fire in the lounge under the main bedroom, and the heat goes upstairs a bit through the side of the open plan staircase next to the lounge. The bathroom has one of those old long oval electric heaters and he won't consider a heated towel rail so there is always condensation and as for getting laundry dry when the weather is bad, well that is a nightmare!
I gotta get out this place lol

Oh Dear Liz

Oh now we are on a tight time scale as I go back to work in January,
And I want the bathroom done before then, only painting and papering in there nothing on the scale of yours.

Hope it gets sorted for you soon

O.h. is still working on the bathroom, he had a week's holiday to do it but didn't start till Thursday, he faffed about so much. He is installing an overbath shower too. He is such an old woman, I mean I like a decent job done, but he makes such a meal of everything. Add to that, he won't put a white suite in so everything has to be chosen with the yellow/gold SunKing colour from the 80's and you can understand why I am up the wall. He even moans if I need to use the loo!
He might just get the shower in by the end of next week altho will have to work in the mornings before he starts his 2pm-10pm shift, and then the decorating starts, only no colours chosen yet. I went out today to get a few sample tiles but have to try somewhere else tomorrow or Monday to be sure we find the best ones. Old carpet has to come up and floor sanded and stained, or different floorcovering put down, he hates vinyl flooring and wants carpet again, but with his bad eyesight, I am trying to dissuade him.
It might be finished by Christmas if we are lucky. Wouldn't mind but I have to do all the running about etc and try and keep things ticking over when he is carrying paint tray through the house and splashing it everywhere, but it isn't even my house.
Such fun, not, and then I woke up this morning with a tight chest and a cold coming.
Ain't life fun?

Our front room and bathroom was Orange!!!!! Orange I ask you! I now hate any shade of Orange, Peach or whats that spanish type of Orange?

And when I redcoratd I found out why - the Orange bits of replacement plaster was quickly painted over and the only colour that covered it on one coat ....you guessed it Orange!

Unfortunatley the people that lived her before us did a bad stipple effect on the ceiling, which makes it a b*tch to paint.

Plus our room is 13x22 foot

I cant say Ive used it in kitchen or bathroom - you need secial paint for those that wont go mildewy - with all the steam.

I was told that the pink paint, which turns white, will turn pink again if used in a bathroom or kitchen where steam makes it damp.
