I love Paninis, and those ones at Peterborough were the biz.

Mind you, I used to get a lovely cheese and tuna panini in castle Mall, in the only cafe you could smoke in, on the loo level. Often used to go there for my lunch.

Ok - if I read any more I will be drooling lol
I thought Panini was a type of bread, like Ciabatta or Foccacia etc

A panino (IPA: [pʰəˈninəʊ]) is a sandwich made from a small loaf of bread, typically a ciabatta. The loaf is often cut horizontally and filled with salami, ham, meat, cheese or other food, and sometimes served hot. A grilled panino is buttered on the outside and grilled in a press.

The word "panino" [pa'ni:no] is Italian (literally meaning small bread roll), with the plural panini. "Panini" is often used in a singular sense by speakers of languages that borrow the word, including English and French, and pluralised when necessary into "paninis".

In Italian, panino refers variously to a bread roll and a sandwich, and a paninoteca is a sandwich bar. In Central Italy, there is a popular version of panino which is filled with porchetta, i.e. slices of roasted pork.

So now you know, I won't show my ignorance in a bakery and ask for a loaf or roll of panini lol

Just thought I should educate you all, lol

Was the Peterborough meet where I first tried the brie and ham ones and was hooked, now I make them often, but sometimes use crusty granary rolls instead.

It's doughy type bread shaped like a baguette, that you fill with anything but cucumber ( my favorite is Tuna, cheese & red onion) then you place between 2 hot plates don't add to much pressure, until outer parts are toasted in the inside is piping hot
