Its just one derelict bus depot in Stratford, 75 firefighters at the scene, 15 engines.

It is a big old building and likely to be diesel causing all the smoke. Firefighters working hard to get it under control, but it doesn't look as if it will spread.

It's now being said that it was being demolished and looks like some sort of accident.

Rosi, it was seen from New Malden in Surrey so I'm not surprised.

Colour of smoke is changing as water is being poured onto the fire, it is paler and greyer now.

Ash coming down in the area now.

It's not the old bus depot, though it was evacuated, it is at a disused textile warehouse they are saying.

I've found the building as was, on Virtual Earth, the bus depot is right behind it.

Asbestos warning is now in place, people in the path of the smoke have been adviced to get indoors and close windows and doors as a precaution, as there was apparntly some asbestos in the building.

The reason was that it was in our capitol city and it was very quickly obvious that it was a major incident. It was already being beamed out before Scotland Yard issued a statement saying they did not believe there was a terrorist link.

Yes it could have been an insurance job, there was asbestos in the building, it would have cost a fortune for it to have been cleared, and extra bill for an already stretched council. It will be interesting to hear exactly how the fire started.
