I had a dolly one but I always thought when I was doing the corky thing - Why???

Aha ahem of course I meant to say french knitting Lol

Wonder why Brummie's called it 'corking' and why do the French knit that way? Do they need a lot of tea cosies?

I started off with a cotton reel, but then I got a soldier in a red uniform and a black peaked hat. I made miles and miles of .....

Mine was an old Cotton reel, with 4 small nails in the top - we called it French Knitting, my best friend was given a 'posh' one shaped like a wooden doll.

You ended up with yards of it!

I just had one of those memory flashbacks and wondered if any of you did corking -
it was a cylindrical shaped thingy with 4 pins sticking out one end with a hole going down the middle and your ...erm ....corking stuff came out the bottom hole - er er and I could only make tea cosies?

Beginning to question my sanity now Lol
