About Brussels Sprouts
The Brussels Sprout was orginally cultivated in Belgium (hence the name) from cabbages. Generations of school children are still lamenting that event...

They're an excellent source of Vitamin C, with just 6 lightly cooked sprouts containing an adult's recommended daily allowance.

They're also packed with Vitamin D and folic acid, which are both common deficiencies in our modern diet.

But...

Allegedly, they're the UK's most hated vegetable.

If you, like me, spent childhood Christmases dreading the arrival of noxious green balls on your Christmas Dinner plate, then chances are you need some persuading to try them again.

If cooked correctly, they should have a pleasant, nutty flavour. Honestly!

Brussel sprouts...an ode,

You are so small and green,

in my life you've always been,

through thick and thin,

sometimes even in a tin,

I love your dark green folds,

you ward off all the colds,

I love to have a plateful,

but not when I'm on the pull!

They make you pump a lot,

Perhaps you get a sore bot,

But they'll always be your friend,

Even though they send Puss round the bend!!!!

I LOVE SPROUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Marion, that was what my mum told me..it was the only way she could get me to eat them when I was little. Glad to say my tastes have matured somewhat, I love most the things I hated as a kid, sprouts, onions, mushrooms...

Still don't eat kidneys or aniseed..YUKKKK

Well that will be a good thing won't it? At least then the cabbages won't be getting all the glory.

I dont eat a lot of meat.
chicken most of the time or....ham.

I am not a vegetarian only because I try not to think too hard about the animals.

I dont eat beef due to seeing the piles of dead ones after foot and mouth and BSE
I have never eaten lamb, cause I used to feed the orphan ones.
Have never eaten veal.. thats a shame.

So...come on the sprouts and dont forget the carrots :))
