lol Joe, do you think he's got his tree on here then? God that is ;)

Simply amazing. Just goes to show that you shouldn't ignore those female lines that marry into the 'family name'. They can be so easily ignored coz they can be so hard to track back, but so obviously worth it.

*goes back to trawling through my tree* best I've found yet was a schoolmaster back in the early 1800's Although admittedly at the other end of the scale I've only found one link to the workhouse from a sibling of a direct decendent

What a good show to finish the series on.Isn't Matthew Pinsent a nice chap?

It's nice when they get all that help though ,and all that travelling thrown in!

I missed the tale end of WDYTYA as the phone went - I saw up to the bit where him in the pic was a naturalist with a connection to the marques of ? then she said on a female side she could trace right back too ...... Phone rang then half hour phone call! Missed the end!

Wasn't it great and yes I too thought they should have had gloves on when handling the old books and scrolls!!!!

How great to get that far back find you are related to Royalty.
I like what Joe said he can't even find his Gt grandad!!!

Maddie... they traced him to William Howard, uncle of Catherine Howard (beheaded wife of Henry 8th) and from there to Edward 1st.... William the Conquerer and eventually... God! (All the kings claim to be directly descended from God)

Absolutely brilliant! What a nice chappy Matthew Pinsent is too. Now he really did have something to boast about whereas John Hurt was so the completely opposite and totally miffed he was just a commoner.

Well done Matthew Pinsent on a very interesting final show. It's amazing how our perspective on all this history changes when we find out we're connected somehow. I liked the way you could see him working out what the fate of his ancestor was as wife of Herny VIII - divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, BEHEADED, survived! Shock and a real sombre expression on his face. Good stock, me thinks HM Queen should kneel humbly before Matthew when next she meets him! Yeah right!

Take care all,
Lyn x
