Ah, but Errol,
As a connoisseur of plonk, I know that the less % alcohol - the milder the hangover !!! :o)

That's only red wine. With white wine you have to take into account the % of anti-freeze LOL

Trust an Aussie to try and claim antipodean wines are best (and guzzle ours at the same time).
I do believe the Oz team drank their own brew just before exiting the Rugby World Cup - says it all really! hehehe

If the wine leaves "legs" on the glass it is good. Not sure how this equates to sport but if their bums look good in shorts does it matter what their legs look like.. or how the wine tastes. lol

Me .. I prefer a NZ sauvignon blanc......mmmm

If it is an Australian 2006 Shiraz then DON"T drink it for another few years. It's only a year old and too young to drink.
If you send it to me I'll look after it for you for a few years and then I'll get Rona to help me taste test it for you.

If you buy wine from France and parts of Europe, this is a general rule of thumb.
If the foil cover over the top of the cork is blue is table wine and a mix of grapes, use for cooking!
A green foil , is usually a good drinkable wine, and these can still start around a euro in price.
Red foil cap is the best you can get and very expensive.
We have one bottle left with a red top and it will poss get opened if the rugby result is good next weekend :)))))
Happy drinking

xx Jill

I dont know too much about wine, but find its a very personal thing anyway one mans tea is another mans coffee and all that...

When its is open though you roll it in the glass and look to see how long the liquid takes to slide down the inside of the glass - I think this is called the legs but I am sure I will be corrected.

If it takes a long time to run back down to the rest of the drink - I beleive it is a better wine (and more alcoholic?). Also have a little on the front of your tongue and breath in and see how far the flavour reaches the back of your tongue without actually pushing the drink back and swallowing.

But at the end of the day you either like it or you dont - I dont find price an indicator at all - I've had some very bad expensive wines and some very good high street price ones.

Personally I like a good Chautuexnuef du Pape if drinking red with a meal (Ive just checked and the foil is Red - I had never heard about the coloured foils before).

With White Wine I like a dry Crisp Chardonnay as as I drink White like Lemonaid it dosent have to be all that fancy a nice Jacobs Creak or a Kumalar suits me down to the ground!

Maddiecow Report 14 Oct 2007 22:30

Little Legs Whisky ..uRGHHH Just the smell makes me gag but a brandy ...... now we are talking.

Rona go enjoy your wine :))))))). A freind of mine from the UK is / was a highly reguarded wine importer exporter....

Moved to Aus with Wife and I understand you have strict rules and any wine to be imported thats not Australian has huge taxes.
