We used to have a ?Parkray/Rayburn, anyway one of those coal fires with a glass door on the front. You could fill it right up and it would burn all weekend....lovely....except when you mistimed filling it and it went out, and then you had to go up the back garden at night, in the pitch black, with howling wind and swirling snow to the coal bunker.(lol happy days) |

I have an open fire. With central heating and double glazing, you don't get the 'cold spots' that you got when the coal fire was the only form of heating. |

coal is so expesive now too, i remember the coal men you could only see the whites of there eyes and what strong boys they were , bet they could have done with flash bathroom cleaner then instead of powdered jiff, imagine cleaning that bath |
