Teresa, I take your point, but having watched some police chases where the escapees go the wrong way round roundabouts, it IS understandable for them to go the whole hog and disappear down the exit lane....... |

I fully understand Caz, I know you are not exactly pro-police at the moment. xxx |

Bob, to me that strengthens the case for more stringent tests for drivers over 70 to be honest. But thats another discussion. |

I believe that police chases aside, it is sometimes TOO easy for someone to get disorientated and get onto a carriageway going in the wrong direction.........junctions should be made/built foolproof so that it is virtually impossible to do the wrong thing. |

Dont run away with the idea or that I think no ones personal property is not important that I support criminal activity I dont !!,,,but there must be an easier way for police to catch these people,,,,,,we have all watched it on cime tv,,,,,the driver is happily driving along in what is often a stolen car or been involved in criminal dealings till a police car takes chase sirens going then they up their speed,to dangerous levels,,,,which is a recipe for fatal accidents to innecent bystanders,,,,,,why cant they radio for support ahead to road block a car. |

At least two of those who died in this lived near me. The driver of the car being chased was 18, and his uncle has stated that the lads should have stopped for the police. There were three in the wrong way car killed, a fourth is seriously injured. They were in the wrong. They knew what they were doing. Local tom toms say that they are known for it. While I feel desperately sorry that anyone died so needlessly, I reserve my shall we just call it unreserverd sympathy for the couple coming back from holiday, driving correctly, who are the totally innocent victims in this. |

Ooooh don't get me started onthe human rights brigade and their reletless defence of criminals. They seem to forget the rights of the victims which should always be paramount. |

I can't help thinking that the courts are the ones letting us all down. |

Agree on those points Kitty..............and I can't defend and say that using guns reduces crimes as it doesn't .......... but I do think we need a tougher stance..............but don't know the answer |

If you notice, though in the USA as well as all police being armed, the roads are wider, quieter and there are a huge number of places to safely bump a car to force it off the road. |

I'm with Peter on this one..............some of the drivers of these car's are high on drugs, armed etc and will stop at nothing not even the thought that they may kill someone |

Peter.....police don't carry guns routinely, only in special circumstances. |

So Kay, if your car had been stolen, maybe with some belongings in it, would you not report it to the police in case they saw it and chased it? |

They perhaps should do like the police in the USA. |
