I could be very coarse and say that if you put one of those things near me, I would tread on it! But I won't say that, of course. Joanna |

I am impressed! You are brave enough to go towards one of those things and blat it!! I have to do it long-distance if I am on my own and one scuttles about. Or sort of surprise myself and just happen to have something in my hand to bash it with. Every nerve in my body screaming at me to run away from it, but I have to know it is dead. When we lived in Italy, I got the local SAS chap to come in and kill a big b'r for me that appeared when my husband was working! I always say, get the experts in to do a job!! Jo |

Rosie; bet you would be braver than me with those eight-legged jobs! I had my Mum, then my sister, my husband, and then my two boys to deal with those things for me. I have been known to barricade my bedroom with things stuffed under the closed door, and me sleeping on the living room couch 'til my husband came home and could go in and blat the horrible thing for me! I will not sit/rest/sleep in a room if I know one of those nightmares is loose. My wormies are much nicer. At least with them, I can pretend to be brave! Jo But I could not imagine eating them!! |

Oh Rosie G, so very sorry to make you cringe! I am terrified of those awful eight-legged scuttly fast things (can't type the name!) so I can sympathise. I disliked worms until I got my 'worm city'. It just seemed such a waste, throwing away all the kitchen veggie scraps, when I could just bung them into the top layer of my wormery; you don't have to come in contact with the critters if you don't want. Could you try one of these kids' things like an ant colony, but with worms, and see how you get on? I could NOT do it with the eight-legged things I hate, so who am I to tell you anything?? Cringing with you! Joanna |

If you didn't have worms in your garden soil you would have bad problems. Worms are good for gardens |

All worm donations gratefully received! I wasn't sure how I would take to them until the first time I stuck my hands into their 'bedding' to rotivate it about. But, they are rather nice, and I have no trouble hoiking them out if they manage to go down into the tap area. And I feel quite proud when I see their little offspring. Well, they are no trouble and you don't have to worry about someone to look after them in the holidays! Jo |
