Hi Pat :):) I have seen your lovely photographs on Next Gen, they are really lovely :):) If I could meet one person it would be the person who could supply one photograph of my grandfather George Deacon (Mums side ) My grandparents were divorced when my mum was really young. Mum speaks so highly of her dad and each time we talk about family history the look on mums face as she mentions just having one picture of her dad is sad to see. I have tried for a few years now and I am sure she has a half brother in Reading Berkshire but no joy as to give mum what she so much needs. Colin |

My Great Grandma Key. She was an adored only child. She married my Great Grandad, moved away from her family to South Wales when he worked on the railways, had 2 sons and a daughter and then G Grandad decided to emigrate to Canada in 1911. Her elder son followed 6 months after his father, then G Grandma followed 4 months later with her 2 younger children aged 10 and 11. They homesteaded in Saskatchewan on the praries and my poor genteel G Grandma had a really hard life. She missed her parents dreadfully. Then her elder son died in 1912 from TB. Then her other son was killed in WW1. I can't imagine how she felt. Still, G Grandad and G Grandma had a long life together, celebrating their Golden Wedding in 1945, before G Grandad died in 1946 and she followed 2 years later. I am lucky enough to have photos of her and I often look at them wondering what she was thinking and how she coped with her life. Sue xx |

Romany Star, Were yours English Gypsies? I know what you mean about the foreign ones, I have found that part of my tree particularly difficult, but not impossible! :-) Rose, Ooh sounds interesting! In an article I have written about my great grandfather it states about him and his family leaving the Balkans forever over a dissagreement with another tribe of gypsies. The author did not give the reason as apparently it was not 'in good taste'! I'd love to find out the reason too! Pat |

I would like to ask my grandad if he was born Clayson or Ives and in Northampton or Wrexham as its a bit of a family mystery especially as he had a brother with the same first name (who I can't find) |

My great grandparents, to ask them about Romany life. My other great grandparents to ask them about Swedish/Latvian life. My great great grandmother, to ask if she knew who her father was, and general questions. |

Putting my pho's on next gen made me think about the family i didnt really know. Out of my family, there are a couple who I wished i'd met. Firstly my great grandfather because i'd love to hear his stories myself instead of having them passed down to me. The other is my uncle Lesley. He died when I was a year old, so i didn't know him. But my mum talks about him alot. She adored him, He was her older brother and she was very close to him. He had a very adventurous life, travelling alot (keeping the family tradition!). He was in Australian water, aboard the Canberra when he took ill. He was flown home, but died a short time later. He was only 45 years old. Pat |
